I just bought and moved into a new place that came pre wired with some in wall front and rears. I don't know the brand but I knew I still wanted to use my L Series.

My question is.. do I just run the in walls off my b channel or use the "height pre outs" on my VSX 820 K Pioneer and buy an amp to power them? If so which 2 channel would be a good choice? Am I spinning my wheels with this Pro Logic IIz? I did confirm my 820 has the pre outs.

Taking a quick look at your manual, the speaker B outputs won't give you the right signal for height speakers, only going with an external amp will.

Some people like heights, some don't hear much of a difference, your space looks big enough to possibly get some benefits from them, but honestly that's nothing more than a guess and you won't really know without trying them.

If you do decide to give it a try, you won't need much of an amp, even 50w x 2 would be enough.
