Hello

I have an Audio Request Pro music server. I have downloaded the manual and looked around on the Audio Request web site. I have also requested technical support.

I am trying to move music files to the server. They have some software called NetSync for iTunes. I have installed it on a PC, but it does not see the server over an Ethernet line. I can ping the server and access the it as a drive under Windows. I can also access the firmware interface using a browser.

It is possible to transfer music to the server using Windows, but it must require some kind of specific file format since the music I have transferred so far does not make it into the proper folder.

Does anyone have some experience with these devices?

NetSync for iTunes is convenient, but not necessary if your music is in the supported files type(s) (mp3, WAV, FLAC etc).
Just copy your music into the music directory that you set up in Settings>NAS Storage and link in Settings>Encoding.
Once you have copied your music into the assigned directory run the Consistency Check Settings>Task Manager>Consistency Check and it will populate the directory database.

Thanks for the information. It is good to find someone who knows this equipment.

I am not in front of the machine just now but I don’t think I see those options in the menus. Is it safe to update the firmware by connecting the machine to the Internet?

By the way, I have version 1.9.32 Pro 205 of the firmware.

What hardware do you have (F1,F2,F3?) the current version on the F series is 7.0.3.4968.
The menu options above have always been there, In your browser type in the IP address of your ReQuest server and the web interface will come up.
Go to the bottom of the page and click on settings. A pull down selection box will be on the upper left of the screen. You can select the NAS and Encode pages from there.

I have hardware version 3.5.0c Pro. The name says Audio Request Fusion Pro.

Is it OK to download the new firmware from Request? I ask because I am not sure if Request still has the connection working at their end. There is a risk of "bricking" the system if the download does not go well.

I have sent a message to their tech support about this. They did reply to an earlier message saying that NetSync for iTunes would not work with my machine.

I will take a look again at the internal page.

I was able to manually transfer music into the "Upload" folder by changing all the titles to lower case, separated by underscores. I also changed the format from MPEG4 to MP3. Not sure if the last is required.

I will try the method you spelled out.

I took another look at the user interface of the firmware and I can't see the menu. I am attaching screen shots of the home page and the page that I get when I click on "ARQ Settings."

Richard
That is an older unit (10+ years). I've only used the F series. I could not even find it in even their legacy support documents. Sorry, good luck.

Thanks for your help!

Maybe if I update the firmware I will get some additional functions. I hope that ReQuest gets back to me that the firmware can still be downloaded. I guess I could just connect up and see what happens...

Well, this is what comes with buying old stuff. It's fun to figure out up to a point.

I tried connecting the server to the Internet and doing a firmware update, but I get a "Server Not Found" message. Maybe they took that connection down along with the manuals, etc.

I can see the audio server on my network, so it is connected correctly to the router. I tried setting it back to factory settings, but no change. It does not contact the Internet site for an update.

My main question now is how to convert music files.

Do you know of any tools that will take an album and re-name everything with lower case and underscores, such as "Eric Clapton" becomes "eric_clapton"? This applies to the songs in the album too.

The way it seems to work is that there is an "Uploads" folder that I can access. I put the album in that folder and it is automatically processed, but only if it is in the correct format with lower case titles.

Maybe I should just get a newer server!
