I am beginning construction on my basement HT/family room. The basics are it will be a projector with an AT screen and 3 in wall speakers with 7.1 sound. I have a local AV guy helping with the install/calibration. He laid out a lighting plan and then our designer and my wife added their input and now the plan is getting a bit overwhelming. The AV guy uses many 4 inch cans for "task lighting", but my wife prefers sconces and fixtures, not overhead cans.
The layout is that the screen wall is at the bottom of the floor plan, with a couch about 15 feet away and right behind the couch a bar counter.
All the cans are 4 inch per the recommendations of the consultant.
The plan is to use the Lutron Caseta switches and Hub to control the zones and levels.
I attached 2 pictures. The first has a plan that includes path and area lighting, a few cans to illuminate the walls in areas that we might hang posters or art, 5 sconces (2 up front and 3 on the sides) plus a single ceiling fixture. The second picture has additional cans over the couch and bar per the AV guy and along the back to light up the built in cabinets.
Basically, I would love to get ideas from you all about how many of these I really need and how to best assign the zones (each Lutron zone needs a separate switch, which adds about $80).
If this is not clear, ask questions and I will try to elucidate.
Thanks!
