I have a XS Technologies Strata 800 UPS . MY problem is the battery is dead and will not run my system when power goes out. Plus the unit shuts off from time to time in the middle watching TV because of the battery.

I cant seem to get in touch with the Xs tech anymore. I think they must have went out of business or something. If anyone has info on replacement batterys or how to contact XS tech. please let me know.

Also I tried looking them up on the net and their old site is another company called XS Tech. But its not surge pro. anymore.

Thanks

I'm not familliar with XS tech; however, almost all UPS function in a similar manor. Unplug the unit and open it up. There will be one (most common) to 6 batteries inside. They are usually orange or black, sealed (so they cant spill) and have Pos Neg markings. Not how thwy are connected so you can reconnect them. Take one out and you will find a manufacturer code (usually on the bottom.) You will also find a model or part number. Use this info to purchase new batteries from either and electronics store such as Western Radio, or the like. You can also most likely get them from companys that sell home / bussiness alarm system.

If you have a multimeter, and have enough experiance to do it safely, measure the voltage accross the +/- (DC) while the unit is plugged in. It will probably be around 48 volts DC if it is good (28 Vdc is also common.) At least then you will know if the problem is the battery ( most likely) or the charging ckt.

good luck
