RTi10 SPECS

SR604 will be able to drive the RTi10s (rated - 8 ohm and 89 dB) without problem.

Recommended Amplifier Power 20-300 w/channel

Please help.

This means that RTi10s is designed to handle max up to 300w of power and their minimum recommended is 20w. Driving these speakers with more or less wattage than specified may not give you best results and also may cause damage to the speakers (at least in theory. Speakers can take more than what is specified).

But just to clarify it once and for all. How do you tell that the ONKYO can drive the RTi10s (rated - 8 ohm and 89 dB)?

Speaker rated 8ohm are easy to drive (speakers rated 4 ohm or lower are difficult load and will need more power). Also speakers rated at 90 dB or higher are considered more efficient and RTi10s are rated at 89 dB, so they are not as bad as speakers rated 86/87dB (or lower).

That onkyo avr with the polks is like a volkswagon pulling a train it just won't work,

Those speakers are 4 ohms and the onkyo will not even begin to make those speakers kick...

I don't get it. According to the spec.

Amplifier Section
Power Output* (8 ohm, 20 Hz-20 kHz, FTC)

Front L/R

90 W/Ch

Center

90 W

Surround L/R

90 W/Ch

Surround Back

90 W

Power Output* (6 ohm, 1 kHz, FTC)

Front L/R

110 W/Ch

Center

110 W

Surround L/R

110 W/Ch

Surround Back

110 W/Ch

It seems that the lower the impedence (6 Ohm vs 8 Ohm) the higher the rated Power Output.
