I thought it best to come to the experts for advice. After over a month of extreme haggling with Sears over the Panasonic 50" LCD PT50LC13 hunk o junk - they have finally agreed to replace my set with one of comparable value. So, basically I have $2300 towards a new set at Sears. I've looked at several sets in that price range and, of course, I'm confused.

Sony 50" Grand Wega KDF-E50A10 (LCD)

Hitachi 50" 50V720 (LCD)

Samsung 50" HL-R5067W (DLP)

Toshiba 52" 52HM95 (DLP)

and also an LCOS set - JVC 52" HD52G886

I'm a little gunshy (you can understand after the Panny experience) about the whole lamp replacement thing on LCD RPTV and DLP, so part of me wants to look at regular smaller LCD's as well. The only thing I've ruled out is plasma since I'm at altitude in Denver. I'd also love to get comments on LCOS, the good and bad, and, of course, comments about the list of sets above. Thanks.
