(i realize this may not have enough info in it.....if so, just tell me)

i have a sony 42" plasma hdtv. when we watch DVDs (but also for tv shows), there seems to be more background audio (such as music), making the dialogue hard to hear. many times we have to turn on subtitles on the dvd player. what setting needs to be modified in Audio to fix this? should they be in the TV's audio settings or the DVD player's audio settings? we just use the TV's speakers, nothing like surround sound or any other device.

thanks.

Make sure that the DVD player is ALWAYS playing the stereo soundtrack, not DD or DTS surround.

how awesome is that for you to get troubleshooting tips from the Editor of Stereophile. thats like Bill Gates answering your question about importing favorites into IE or something
