I am unable to get a digital signal recognized from the DVD changer to my DLP when connected via HDMI - DVI cable (TV only has DVI HDCP input not HDMI). My Samsung 931 DVD player and Dish 921 HD PVR DVI outputs both work with my DLP (connected via Gefen 4 way DVI switcher). I have attemped to connect the Sony directly to the TV instead of through the switcher with no luck. I also took the Sony to Circuit City and had them hook it up using my cable to a DVI equipted TV there. It worked. Any ideas? I am going to have a Circuit City repait person out if I can't figure it out (as I assume it must be the TV). Since the TV is under a service agreement, my hope is they will either have to make it work (since the TV is documented as having HDMI compatible DVI inputs) or replace it with one that works).

Have you just tried connecting it with componant cables. The other link about the Sony 995 implies that there is essentially no differnce in picture quality between componant and HDMI.

Are you sure the HLN617W is HDCP compliant? Does the HDMI light up on the DVD player? It should light up if a connection is made to an HDMI compliant device, from what I understand reading the manual.

Component = max 480p

HDMI = 720p/1080i upscaling

According to the literature, the TV is HDCP complaint. I use DVI connections for my Samsung 931 and my Dish 921 receivers which I believe require HDCP.

The HDMI light does not light up.

Thanks for your assistance. This board roXors.
