I need help. I've read the manual but can't seem to get this to work.

Currently on my display, only the Left and Right speakers are lit up. All the other speakers are not lit up (LFE, Centre, Surround Left & Right) even though I have them hooked up and I am playing a DVD with 5.1 sound encoded. It doesn't matter what sound setting (PLII, DTS)... I cannot get all the speakers to light up. There is sound coming from all the speakers and I have gone into the DVD setup to select Dolby 5.1. Am I getting true 5.1 sound? To me, this would suggest that the receiver is recognizing the DVD as only 2 channel sound.

I notice that Dolby Digital is a sound mode available but I can't seem to select that either. I have a Sony DVD player that is 5.1and DTS compatable that is connected to the receiver via digital coaxial cable. Shouldn't all the speakers light up on the display when I am playing a DVD? Any suggestions? Thanks

Just had the same issue with a Yammi 1400. You need a Coax cable from the source(DVD) to receiver for the digital source input. As in the last reply you need then to select bit-stream on the DVD. Then pressing AMP and toggling down with the remote you should see the digital information like data rate /number of speakers etc.

PCM is a stereo only signal, where bitstream is 5.1 is a signal that tells the processor to decode either dts or dolby 5.1 or whatever.
