This is my first foray into using a pc as a PVR. I bought Sagetv with Zapstream remote + Wintv 250 tuner + USB-UIRT

I feel a little out of my depth bc the instructions were only how to install each item and not how they all work together.


Anyway my biggest problem is that the USB-UIRT is not changing dishnet channels. When I teach the UIRT the remote codes 0-9, it says it works. However, when I try to use the zapstream remote or the EPG to go to a channel, it doesnt do anything.


Is there some special way to teach dishnet remote codes to the USB-UIRT? I have the old dishnet 3750 receiver (which is a QAM receiver bc it is a multi-dwelling commercial install of dishnetwork) I found that Tivo could not control this receiver so went to the pc PVR route.

Have a look on the SageTV forums, under hardware there is a USB-UIRT thread. In it people have uploaded just what you need...

Thanks, I downloaded and unzipped the evu-dish.ir file but am unable to open it. What exactly am I supposed to do with it? I already pmed John as well.

OK, I opened the .ir file with notepad but am not clear on where the content goes. Can anyone give me any pointers?

Put this file into your C:\\Program Files\\Frey Technologies\\Common\\RemoteCodes folder (there might be a USB-UIRT subfolder in your RemoteCodes folder -- if there is, put it in there instead)


Then, go back into your Sage setup wizard and select your Source Capture Card again and tell it you're using a composite/s-video in and that you want to tune an external STB. At this point, Sage will give you a list of devices (Serial, Actisys, USB-UIRT). Pick the USB-UIRT, and then Sage will give you a list of STB's. The new file should show up as one of the options.

Thank God. Its finally changing channels however I can only change channels by pressing up or down. If I enter a channel number it doesnt work. (the original remote does not require the enter key to be pressed)

I think usbuirt expects 4 digits but dish only has 3 digits for each channel.


How do I change it to expect 3 digits?
