Need help with video card settings

I'm very new to the HTPC world and would appreciate some help. I own an older Dell Dimension and recently purchased a Radeon 9250 video card to hook up to my Samsung DLP HD TV for general use only...no gaming. Just internet, pictures, video...that sort of thing. My computer did not have AGP or PCI-AE so I had buy a PSI video card and based on recommendations from this forum on my needs, I went with a pretty simple card b/c my needs are pretty simple.

I'm not sure what display settings to use to get the best out of the picture. I have purchased a DVI to component converter dongle and also a DVI to HDMI converter to see if one works better then other. I have one open HDMI and several open component video hookups so I could use either one. I was just hoping someone out there has had some experience with something similar and could provide some help. Please don't assume I know the lingo as I am still very much learning the details of the card and how all this works. I did get the card installed and everything appears to be working fine. I've only been able to hook it up to my TV via the VGA plug at this point because I won't get the two different converters in the mail until tomorrow. So far, I've just installed the card, drivers, catalyst software, and made the connection with VGA. It looked ok but I'm hoping the digital connections will be better. I really appreciate it and thanks in advance.
