Hello everyone,

Yesterday, I was able to buy Yamaha - RXV765BL for under $400. I bought it because after doing some research, I found out it was one of the best mid range receivers available and had a huge discount. Now, after doing some more research I found it there were some HTIBs that could be just as good and with speakers + cheaper after assembling.

I have the following questions:

I have around $400 cash to spend on speakers. Is it enough to get all the 7.1 sound system set? If not, what would you recommend as a must have speakers before getting the complete speaker 7.1 set.

Also, how does the HTIB, the two that I have in mind compare to this setup. Both HTIB that i have in mind are ONKYO HT-S7200 and YAMAHA YHT-791BL.

Also, are these speaker Polk RM6750 compatible with the receiver Yamaha that i bought ?

My use for the Home theater system are:

PS3 - Games & Blue ray

Directv HD Sports and Movies

Computer - very ocassional gaming.

Room size: Normal Living room

Thank you

Nice receiver purchase!

Yes, the RM6750 speakers are compatible with your new receiver. But in a normal size living room I'd prefer something bigger than little satellite speakers. Are little sats as big as you can go? I guess not since the Onkyo system comes with tallboy speakers up front.

As far as getting a 7.1 setup, does your room allow you to place 7 speakers properly? The rear speakers need to be at least 3 feet behind the main listening and placed above it too. You might be better off you going with a 5.1 setup, especially for a $400 budget.

Since you can get towers, consider something like this.

And then add a $150 subwoofer

If you want smaller speakers all around consider the C401 bookshelf speakers from Jamo. Vanns.com has a great deal on them right now.

Define normal size? I had a normal size living room in NYC and it was 9 x 10 and now I got a normal one in the suburbs thats 13.5 x 14.75

I use the RM6750 and I think its a great speaker package and very under-rated it has no trouble filling my room
