need info on hdmi

Hi all -

I was wondering if i have a 5x1 monoprice hdmi switcher

how do i connect my hdmi receiver to my tv? I was assuming through the HDMI Switcher? Any info would help.

With an HDMI cable from the output on the switcher to the input on the TV...

So your saying that the inputs on my switcher will have

1 - dvd player

2 - cable box

3 - receiver

and my output will be to my TV.

If this is true then how does the tv play its sound through the receiver?

You either get a switch box that can handle digital audio also and connect it's output to the AV receiver or you connect the audio output on each device to the audio inputs on your AV receiver.

I'm not sure why you would be thinking you need to hook the AV receiver to one of the inputs on the switch.

DVD Player to Input on switch

Cable Box to Input on switch

Output of switch to input on receiver

Output of receiver to input on TV

I don't believe TV's output audio or video over HDMI
