Need Longer Cables to hook 360 to television

942 Views 21 Replies 11 Participants Last post by  homerx
I just purchased some new Paradigm Monitors, waiting to the Onkyo 605 to be released. I now have my PS3,Xbox 360, Direct TV receiver in a new Sanus equiptment stand. I am now looking for longer cables to hook my 360 to my teleision. Are there any companies that make longer cables?

there are about 10 different sponsors of this website at the top of the page.
Well you have options depending on what type of cable you need.

Component, HDMI, or VGA...?

The monster component cables can be had for $30 with the fiber optic cable. They are ten feet in length. How long do you need?
10 feet will definately be long enough

Correct. Try Monoprice, you won't be disappointed.
2nd Monoprice. 10x cheaper than Monster, same quality.
3rd for monoprice. I'm in Canada and I even get my cables there
Which would be the cables that I would need?
You haven't said what type of cables you use to hook your 360 up. Need the info first.
Sorry about that, that would help, right, lol. I am using the component hd av cable
You can get the Monster Components with an Optical cable for $29.98 on Ebay...

Just search for the seller "commissioner49" and enter a $21 best offer.

I've done shootouts with generic component cables vs. the Monster ones and the Monster cables are definately better. They are built better and you get better picture quality.

Everyone and there uncle diss Monster, but there are no real competitors when it comes to video game systems.

Also the few competitors (Pelican etc...) are only 8ft cables.

Are the Monster 360 Component cables worth $70? Definately not. But I believe at $30 with a toslink to mini adapter and the optical cable, its a pretty good deal.

Monoprice as has been stated, if you go elsewhere don't say you weren't told

Monoprice has one 8ft cable that looks like its cheaper then the one that comes with the system and its selling for $8.80 plus shipping.

That doesn't seem like a great deal. I would rather spend the extra $10 and get a longer and better built cable that comes with an optical cable. (If you dont need the optical cable, you could always sell it, or give it away...)

I love the fact that people say "stay away from Monster" but they never tell you what to buy in its place.

Exactly......people always recommend Monoprice and other cable companies for hooking up the Xbox 360......problem is that they don't make any cables that will work! It has to be a licensed Xbox 360 cable like the Monsters and other brands. Monster's Xbox 360 cables are 10ft on the dot by the way.

How were you hooking the 360 to your tv before you moved the equipment?
I had it hooked up with the hd component cable. Its too short now.I do not have room to move the stand where I have my equiptment now.

OK, here's a solution without buying a new licensed 360 cable:

Connect one of these to your existing HD cable-

and then this 12ft cable to your tv:

These cables are excellent quality and I'm sure the connector will be as well.

He's using his receiver to connect everything ......so theres component switching. Xbox will hook to receiver the monoprice cable will go to the tv. Only way
If you are using component then I would just use couplers...
all the couplers would do is hook up the xbox to the tv. He needs longer cables so the receiver an go to the tv. The xbox and direct tv receiver to the new Onkyo receiver so he can use the component switching. Why is everyone talking about couplers?? Doesn't make sense to me.
