I need to replace both of my SPL800's with something comparable. Both of mine have faulted over the past year with minimal usage. Pretty disappointed with them honestly. One of them I had already sent back under warranty and it too failed within 2 years.


Anyways this is for strictly home theater in a dedicated room in the basement. The subs are in the false wall that I have in the front portion of the room in each corner. Id like to keep the same footprint as the above, but would also like to spend less money this time around. Any suggestions would be helpful.

I dont see any size listed for the SPL800 could you give us the dimensions, budget,sealed or ported. The answers to these questions will garner more responses.

The first two WILL out play the third in every way possible and even its a huge steep up in quality and sound.

I believe I misspoke with the 800, its the spl1000 series. Its cabinet size is approximately 13x13x14.5(h/w/d). I can adjust this if need be, but would prefer not to. They are sealed subs. Also I need to replace 2, not one. The SVS is in the price I was more looking towards, so under $650. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Well if you want to stay sealed i would go with 2 of the SVS subs and don't look back. for the money they are great. If you decide on them give the guys @ SVS a call and if you order two i bet they could swing a 5% discount on a multiple order.

The SB12 is hard to beat when dealing with a box that small. These subs will be far more impressive then the Velodynes.
