I have an Epson 8350 projector in my theater. During the NHL playoff's, I took it outside and projected the game on my 120" screen. The sound source I used was the stereo system I have set up in the garage. Being outside, the sound could be heard, but not as well as I want, so I ended up purchasing the Sony BDV-T79 home theater system to use when I show movies/sport events outside. Got a really good deal on ebay, but now I'm reading reviews and people are saying the sound isn't that great and most sites give it a 3 out of 5 stars. Should have done more research so that's a "my bad" on my part. That being said, my question is will me purchasing a Denon Avr-1613 receiver make the sound more performing?? I plan on using the sony blu ray player and connecting that to the new receiver, and connecting all speakers to the Denon.

The speakers in that Sony system are 3 ohms and the subwoofer is passive so it wont really work with the Denon 1613. You need a powered subwoofer for the Denon.

So the Denon 1613 is not a good match for that speakers system.

Hopefully the Sony unit will power this system well enough for your needs. Good luck.

Also being outside you can't really expect either one of these system to work as well as it would in a smaller enclosed room.
