Need Passive Soundbar Recommendation - budget $1500

1177 Views 5 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Hookedonc4
I just remodeled my house and I am simplifying my living room layout. I had a 5.1 system and now I want a soundbar. I mainly watch movies and play video games.

I originally had my eyes set on the Sony HTST7.

If I were to go the passive route and reuse my Pioneer Receiver (5+ years old), what soundbar choices do I have within the $1500 range? Would passive provide any advantage in quality over active? Can I reuse my existing subwoofer?

Thanks

-ooops, just saw the sticky thread.

Passive would allow you to use your existing equipment. Most passive speaker bars only do the front three speakers and you will still need speakers for the surrounds. There are a couple of multichannel speaker bars. Here are the ones that come to mind.

Atlantic Technology FS7.1

Definitive Technology SSA series

BIC Formula FH-56

Klipsch G-42
TT, thanks for the information.
We use the james SPL39LCR in our sitting room.

What did you pay?

Did you buy directly from them?
You have to find a dealer in your area.

Depending on the length you need $1500 should be close.
