I'm considering either one of these for my bedroom. They will be replacing an ancient panny plasma. We get a lot of light, so i think an lcd is what i have decided.


Do people think that the 500 premium of the 551 is worth it? I'm on a bit of a budget...

I got a 550 last September since the 551's were not yet in stock. One user who later compared a 550 and a 551 in his home far preferred the 551. My family room is very bright and the 550 has no problems in the bright light. The 551 does use about 20-25% less power then the 550 according to EnergyStar.gov.

I don't know what the currrent price difference is but I suspect that the 550 will go away when the 552 is available in the stores and that the price of the 551 will drop at that time.
