Need reccomendation for new receiver

600 Views 5 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Woodsea
I am currently using an old Kenwood Receiver it has DD 5.1, about 200 watts, it is about 3 years old and I feel like I need to upgrade. Please reccomend for me a receiver that has excellent quality and is under $500 bucks.

Thanks,

Victor

Is that $500 MSRP or Online (best deal). A lot of my friends are in that price range and the few that have receivers I would recommend are:

Sony STR-DB940 (this is in Sony's bridge lineup between their entry level and the ES models)

Onkyo TX 484

Onkyo TX 595

You could also look at get last years model since the new models are coming out. This could save you a lot since dealer want to get these out of their stores.

How do you like kenwood? the new kenwoods are nice, they all have DPL II

check ecost.com for the 510 w/ THX. they are not legal kenwood dealer but it saves some cash.

I'd also look at the new marantz and h/k stuff

Look at hifi.com and 800.com respectivley

If you want H/K, Marantz, Onkyo, Sony or Kenwood. you can also call Brian at Onecall (1-800-540-0900) or go to Onecall.com. They are an Authorized dealer for all of these. They also sell Refurbs (and they are noted as such) if you want a more expensive receiver a little cheaper (they usually are Fully warrantied by the Manuf for the same time as a new in the box one, but that is just an option) If you order from Onecall, tell Brian that I recommended you, he is very good to work with and has listened to most of their products, so he may be able to help you pick something that fits your needs.

I have yet been able to get oncall to give any deal on anything. They won't budge on the kenwood 510
@ majorfusion.com you can get the Denon 1802 for $499. Be warned you will get a 1 year warranty from them, because they are not an authorized dealer. The boxes are sealed though. This unit costs $799 regularly :D
