Need Receiver Suggestions for First Time Home Theater Setup

Hi everyone-

Long time looker, first time poster.

Need some help on choosing a proper pre and amp (or AVR)

Ive spent a lot of time in store's demo rooms and listened to about everything on the market in my price range.

I finally decided on a home theater living room setup that includes the following...

B&W 685's (temporary fronts, will be used as rears in future)

B&W CTM 61 (overkill for 685's at first, but purchasing to future proof my upgrade plans)

B&W 683's (for fronts after I save up a bit more money, probably within 2 months of other purchases)

I'm in community living for now, so the sub has to wait for a while. Keep in mind that this will always be a dedicated living room setup and my viewing split is 50% movies, 40% tv, and 10% music.

I orginally planned to go with the Emotiva UMC-1 and Emotiva UPA-500 as my pre/amp setup but Im a little worried that being new to everything Ill have no clue how to tune and set it up properly.

My budget for a receiver/amp combo is roughly $1000.

Thanks!

Room equalization software usually makes a significant improvement in the quality of the sound that you hear. Emotiva does not yet provide any in their equipment. You might want to consider investigating the various AVR brands which include it. Most of them have equipment in your price range. (Denon, Marantz, Onkyo, Yamaha, and Pioneer do. Anthem and McIntosh are more expensive.) There are extensive guides for setting them up. See the FAQ at the start of the Audyssey thread, for example.
