i have a set of Wharfdale 8.2 Pro speakers and think they're awesome in terms of sound quality and power.

the only problem is they're too big for a small study in my house.

so i need a recommendation for a set of EXCELLENT quality speakers (similar to my Wharfdales) that:

(1) are relatively small - E.g: 8" W x 8" H x 12" Depth

(2) have amps build into them, as they will be driven directly from a computer's audio headphone jack... and i have no external pre-amp or amp.

any thoughts?

thanks!

m200. It's a PC speaker that's really a bookshelf pair of one of the rest of their lines with a built in amp.

Genelec has a great reputation for amplified speakers. Worth an audition, I'd say.

Some of the Mackie studio monitors (HR824 or HR624) look pretty impressive, on paper anyway. Not cheap though...
