I have a Powermid X10 wireless IR extender which is not working nearly as well as I hoped. I also have a Handan Cable Box which does not respond at all to the IR codes sent through the Powermid X10.


I'm looking into wired IR repeater solutions. I've been looking at a system from Niles, but it's really expensive, or about 240$ for a IR receiver, main-hub and one IR flooding blaster.


Then I came across this here:

At $54 it looks like a bargain.


I guess you get what you pay for ... but is the Niles system really worth it?


I'm also worried about the Handan Cable box, since it does not work with the Powermid, how can I be sure it will work with the other extenders? I think it has got something to do with the IR frequency it uses.

Update:


Just got my Hot-Link Pro XL and I installed it last night. Needless to say, it works brilliantly. Never misses a key-press, response is instant and I can point my remote every which way I want.


Just wanted to thank you for recommending it. I had never heard about it before you mentioned it.
