Need RS SPL meter in Canada, no local store!

474 Views 6 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  ekb
I'm looking to buy an analogue RadioShack Sound Level Meter. I'm in Canada and they closed down all the Radioshacks here so I can't buy locally.

Here's what I need exactly: http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...entPage=family

That, or the older 33-2050 model.

I was wondering if someone could buy a RS SLM from their local RS in the States and mail it up here. Hopefully someone who's close to the US/CAN border to keep down shipping costs. I'll pay for the meter + shipping of course.

The other option is if someone is done calibrating their system and wants to sell me their meter used - the pickings are slim on eBay.

Please help! Thank you.

The new RS in Canada are called "the source" However you can get one from here

http://www.svsound.com/buyonline.cfm
the source doesnt carry spl meters or any old rs products. why is SVS selling the analog for $4.00 extra than RS is selling them for? Just to make a profit?

The older analog SPL model (that SVS is selling) is coveted because there are widely published correction tables for it which are a must have if you are to EQ your bass. I am not sure if there are correction tables for the analog spl meter that you have in your original post. For $40 USD + shipping is well worth it for a properly calibrated system. Good luck on your hunt.

You don't think that they are entitled to make a profit?
I'm just wondering why SVS would pay the retail price to re-sell the meters to people. Couldn't they work out a deal with RS or their supplier for a bulk deal?

Regardless, I bought one from them. i guess that quest is over.

Did you mail order form the States? Just wait till UPS or whoever wants their brokerage fees, and then customs wants their cut, and the the government wants their GST . . .
