I am finishing my basement and I am almost done. I wanted to get a screen before I purchase a projector so I can test it out right away. I mostly watch DVD movies and woud like 16:9. I would also like a screen size from 60 to 100 inches long. I have a suspended ceiling and need a pull down screen. What would you suggest??

Thanks

John

Hi Tryg, what screens should I be looking at for a floor mounted crt, so far all I can find talked about is the high power, are there any other ones suited for this.

Thanks

I've never owned a CRT but I'll bet you would be VERY happy with the Da-Lite High Power.

Do some searches on this to clarify CRT works well with this retroreflective screen.

No, conventional glass bead screens are also retroreflective. Several vendors offer these. Basically, they are made of crushed glass glued to a white vinyl backing. They work fine for presentations in the boardroom, but I wouldn't want to watch a movie on one. Buy a high power. They are cheap, and give a bright uniform image. The main tradeoff is that the viewing cone is narrower than most other screens. As long as you don't have seating far off on the sides you will be ok with a floor mounted PJ. Read Tryg's reviews for more info on the cone consideration.

Hi Assayer, thanks for your comments. Would getting a studio tek 130 be a bad choice for a floor mount. How cheap is cheap for a hi power, the 130 is about $39 /sqft up here in canada

Angular reflective screens such as the Studiotek generally work fine in floor mount configurations. Forum rules prohibit discussion of street prices so I can't quote numbers but you can generally obtain a high power pulldown for much less than a studiotek. This is because high power is marketed more towards schools and business presentation applications while studiotek is primarily a home theater specialty product. If you want budgetary pricing numbers, you can probably find that easily with a search engine.

1. yes any glass bead screen will be retroreflective by nature

2. If you want valid answers to price you need to call around yourself

3. use the search function

Okay, so who's the #1 choice for Dalite in the states and who will ship it up here. Up here there still tends to be alot of price gouging going on with HT gear.
