I lost the remote to my toshiba v592 upscaling dvd player/vcr

the remotes from my tv and receiver are universal but I am unable to find a way to control certain options now...

fpr example I can't get into the setting for the dvd player, juts a disc menu. I can't remote switch between dvd and vcr. And I have no ability to select input source for the VCR...

What can I do without spending more on a remote thant it would cost to buy a new player with remote....

I would recommend that you get a "One For All" universal remote which will let you can use advanced codes to program any missing functions. An even better option would be to also get a JP1 cable as this would let you load new codes into the remote and it would let you use it to capture the signals from your other devices in order to build new codes, if needed.

I can hook you up with a "One For All" URC-8910 for $20 and a JP1 cable for $15, if you're interested, but you can also get OFA remotes in B&M stores like Best Buy and Circuit City.
Thank you Robman--I have heard of one for all but jp1 i am unfamiliar wiht--i will have to explore....
Check out the links in my sig.
i edned up getting a 9910 sice I found it at a good price and i was planning to get an extender anyway since my components will be behind me when my basement is complete...

The only thing I can't seem to get to work so far is the DVD/VCR selection for the v592....
I assume you are using DVD/0503, if this is the case, according to the following code list, you should be able to use advanced code 205 to switch between DVD and VCR modes...

Don't know what advanced codes are? Read this...
