Hello all. I am a long time Vizio Plasma guy. It was an Old JV50P that did 720P. I just recieved my Vizio LED M651.

The PQ is amazing but it has some issues I do not think I can live with outlined below.

Just got my M651 delivered from Amazon and watched my First Comcast streamed movie to it (The new Thor Movie).

I have a couple questions/concerns,

1. Motion Blus makes some seens almost un-watchable. Its like watching Chronicles of Riddick when he fights the main bad guy at the end of the movie but everyone has the eerie aura trail. Even slow moving talk scenes there is pretty bad ghosting.

2. Watched finding Nemo, all characters on the screen seem to be holy as they all had a 1/4"-1/2" halo around them. This I can probably live with.

3. Thor was letter box so there was roughly 3" of black screen at the top and bottom. The bottom left and right corner seemed to have slightly brighter black, or should I say grey then the rest of the letter box locations.

Other than that the PQ is amazing. I Just came from a 5 year old Vizio Plasma JV50P and the new PQ puts it to shame easily. The issues above have me contemplating returning it.

Please advise me on how to make this better.

So I guess my real question is since the VT ans ZT Pannies are worth more than gold now is the Sammy up to the task? Is the 8500 really $1300 dollars better than the 5500?

Thank you for any input,

Eric

I just came on here to ask the exact same question. I wanted to get a Panasonic ST60 but it seems it's all but impossible to get them now so I've basically given up. I'm debating a PN60F5500 (because I want big and plasma) or for about 600 more the PN51F8500. I would prefer a bigger TV (and not to mention cheaper), but is the PQ so much better on the 8500 that it's worth downgrading on size and spending more? I mean obviously it's better, but for the price point and the value?

Try the 5300 samsung plasma series . it has more adjustments the the 5500 . 10pt white balance gamma grayscale color space are all in the 5300 series on the picture settings. thus colors are dead on and blacks are inky black.

lcd are always going to have problems with motion and input lag . basicly plasma is better at 9 out of the 10 times (outdoor being the10th ).

i have been impressed more and more i like the picture as i purchased the 605350 at costco. the store has HID lights while at home you have cfl or incodesent what this means is total different envierment.

so you would take some apps and 3d over a better picture quality? the 5300 has white balance 10pt white balance ( 2 pt vs 10pt) gamma color space grayscale all are in the 5300 picture menu . because the 5500 does not have certain settings that fine tune to a proper calibrated tv.

apps are also on ps3 . so really its not worthy trade off.
