A friend of mine needs some advice on DBS and OTA reception equipment.

He wants to receive both DBS and OTA HDTV in a single set-top box. He's got two televisions, one a sweet Sony PFM42B1U plasma display hooked up to TiVo/cable and the other a regular tube set. He'd like to receive different channels on each set, so I guess he'll need a double transponder dish.

Can someone suggest the preferred equipment (manufacturers and model numbers) to get him up and viewing? He'd like an all-in-one solution and our local (San Francisco) satellite provider tells him that they don't offer a box that receives both DBS and OTA.

Thanks!

Any Directv stb will do both. And with Directv you only will need one satellite dish which is 18x24 ecliptical oval dish. And for ota antenna, for California you will need to use a UHF antenna. A very good quality antenna is made by

Channel Master.

Here's a picture of what I have : http://www.geocities.com/Peterd90745/MySatOtapage.html

Hope this helps.
