Hi- I need a suggestion for a microphone for a MacBook Pro. A friend is getting married (her 3rd, only 30 people) - her playlist for songs is on her MacBook so she wants me to use that. I will use audio cable to connect MacBook to tower speaker but am not sure what kind of mic I will need (I am a PC girl). Can I just use the "line in" on speaker and ignore the MacBook? Or should I use one of the fire/thunder/ports on her MacBook. Thanks.

You need a mixer. You plug the MacBook Pro output into a mixer line input, plug any mic with an XLR connector into the mic input on the mixer, the take the mixer line output to the powered speakers. You'll have a volume control on the mixer for the mic and another for the MacBook Pro.

This is all you need:

Plus a few cables, perhaps a mic stand.

BTW, if you are going to be the DJ, you might like real DJ software.

This works well, is free, and reads your iTunes library.
