I have all my items on main floor, but I'm thinking of putting Onkyo 929 in basement so it won't overheat in media cabinet.

This is the only item that I need to control and unsure of what to buy.

I don't like cheap items as I know you gotta pay for quality, but at the same time I don't want to spend $300 for Harmony Ultimate as I won't use it.

Could use some pointers for quality products.

You could use a smartphone/tablet and control it over a network connection. The free 30 day trial of iRule would let you see how it works.

Another vote for the NextGen, been using it for at least 5 years.....works great.
