need to know if I'm wasting my money & time

I need to know if you guys think I'm wasting my time, energy & money. I wanna build an entire Polk Monitor 70 system (70's,CS2,40's,30's) for my living room. Once I get it completly built up, start doing the RTi series (12's,CSi5,FXi5,6). Once I get it totally built, put the Monitor series in my bedroom. And after I get the monitor series done whenever I get a new upgrade unplug the old, store it in the bedroom and put the new upgrade on, and so on and so on, until finally I have a complete Monitor 70 series in my bedroom and a RTi series in my living room. Or maybe do a Monitor 70 series out in my living room and save to upgrade to an LSi system. Which ever I do I know I want a home theater in my bedroom for when me and my gf go to bed at night.

I don't understand what part you think might be wasteful?
Well just putting together you know 2 possibly 3 whole Polk Audio systems back-to-back-to-back.
The only one who can really decide that is yourself.

Others here, myself included, may have a difference of opinion as to the equipment you get, but when it comes to it, you need to get what you like the best.
Here's what I'd do:

Add up how much it's going to cost for all that. Subract the cost of a 2.0/2.1 setup for your bedroom, and put the rest into your main HT and room treatments. ;)
Well you see crabman my gf wants a 5.1 setup in our bedroom also. See I dont have a really great setup out here in my living room but she really loves it. So I have to please my woman who someday's gonna be my wife. And I want a full 7.1 anyway in my bedroom anyways. My 2 boys will have 5.1 setups in their rooms also. I just wanna know if y'all think it's a waste of money to have more than 1 full 7.1 setup in my house. I just wanna have somebody else tell me I'm not crazy. I ask my gf all the time what she thinks about this or that and she's always like "Baby whatever you want" which really dont help me out none. I do know I want Polk cuz I got their entry level stuff and I love them so I can imagine what their good stuff is gonna sound like.

Is your bed-room suitable for 7.1? Most don't have the bed out in the center of the room.

Unless you're willing to have the bed out in the room, the sound of a 7.1 system is probably going to be compromised (possibly compromised to the point as to make the loss of useable space an unreasonable trade-off).

If your bed-room isn't at least 15' (front to back), you may find yourself compromising the placement of your front speakers to accomodate the surround-back speakers. Those Monitor 70s could have their ports and woofers firing into the bed. On second thought, if you're going with tower fronts, I'd say you'd need more like 20' (front to back) for 7.1. On third thought, don't go with tower fronts.

A wall mounted flat-panel video display with on-wall/in-wall fronts (or for that matter, all around) would save a lot of space, or have your video display and speakers on a stand at the foot of your bed.

Since your girlfriend likes the living-room setup, maybe you could just move that into the bed-room and concentrate your efforts on a new living-room setup.

Everyone's going to have heir own 7.1 audio system? Will you ever watch movies as a "family"? How will anyone be able to hear their own system with 3 other systems going in the house?

My suggestion is to turn up the kid's systems, lock the kids in their rooms, hide their remotes and go to bed with your gf. Hopefully you won't have to watch or listen to the bedroom home theater system. If you've turned their systems up loud enough, the kids won't hear *you* either! :D

PS. If the gf says, "Baby, whatever you want", you're good to go! Keep her!

Well the boys, I'm thinking about doing Monitor 40's as fronts, CS1 as center and Monitor 30's as surrounds w/PSW10 sub. But do you think that would be plenty for my gf & I's bedroom too?
Also another thing for 50/50 music/movies are bookshelves better than tower speakers? Because right now I have Monitor 40's for fronts and I used to have Pioneer CS-G9001 with the 12" sub in it and the Monitor 40's actually sound better as fronts. I mean what do y'all think if I would upgrade my Monitor 40's (so I can kinda start on my bedroom HT) with RTi6. Or are the RTi12,10,8 floor-standing better than the bookshelves. Honestly for HT and for 2-channel music as well I'm not really looking for front speakers really for bass as that's the sub's job but overall loud, clear, clean, accurate, tight, snapped vocality of a front sound stage. I could care less about bass for my front speakers but are bookshelf speakers better really than tower speakers.
My previous post was just comic relief, but seriously, I have to ask; why are you so "married" to Polk speakers? Sure they're decent speakers, but it's like you've focused your life around making your house a Polk shrine.

Have you even listened to any other speakers? There are tons of other speaker makers out there; some who do pretty good work. Maybe, (just maybe, you could give them a chance!?!

Craig
Yes I know it does seem I'm married to Polk speakers it's just I dont wanna beat around bush testing and waiting to be able to build my HT system. Regardless of what y'all think I have listened to a few speakers and Polk is what I really liked. So I found a speaker I like and wanna stick with it and build my system. Ya know, dont take this the wrong way cuz I'M NOT being an @$$ but it all depends on what my ears like and everything I was just asking everybody's opinoin on if I was wasting my time and energy on having like a "whole house" system so to speak. That's all.
yup I wouldn't put 5.1 in the whole house. If I needed a stereo in every room I would just use 2 good bookshelf speakers or floorspeaker =the cost of 5 or 6 speaker into 2. unless the rooms are huge I don't see much benefit of having5.1 or 7.1 thats used for movies. If everyone was watching a different movie and cranking it up you wouldn't hear the one your watching?????
Your handle is Polk Audio LSi. You should definitely have Polk's top of the line in your main system. Whether that is your living room or your bedroom, who knows, but don't compromise there. Step down a few notches everywhere else, but if I were you, I'd want at least 1 full-on LSi setup in the place. And 7.1 is surely overkill for any normal bedroom layout. Go with 5.1 in the master bedroom, and start w/ 2.0 or 2.1 for the boys' rooms. Then go from there.
well ya see the only one that would really be cranked up is the one in the living room. the one in our bedroom is just to like watch movies at night turned up a little bit. and the other one would be in the 2 boys room's. and they would have theirs turned up a little bit. would it still sound good if i would put monitor 40's on stands up front with my cs1 center and hang monitor 30's about 3 feet above the bed either like right above my pillows or about 3 feet above the corners of the bed. my oldest has a 2-channel "surround sound" right now and he knows he cant turn it up that loud. and honestly when it's pretty loud in his room you can barely hear it in the living room. so i'm not really worried about the boys turning their system up.
I agree with Richard11, get the Polk LSi stuff for your "main" home theater (concentrate on that). I also agree that putting a 5.1 system in bedrooms will not sound anywhere near what it will in your main living/family/dedicated room. There will be compromises on speaker placement and such, and the bed will be a big sound inferring nightmare.

Since you like Polk so much, why are you planning on 4 (4 right?) 5.1 setups with the lower end stuff? Why not just one main setup with the LSi line (top of the line)?
Well my 2 boys love watching movies out here in the living room. And they want something like what Daddy has but in their bedroom. So that's why I'm thinking of doing this: Monitor 40 fronts, CS2 center, Monitor 30 surrounds hung up on the wall (like at the corners of their bed about 3 foot off the ground), and a PSW10 or 12 sub. Then the same setup like for mine and my gf's bedroom. Right now in my living room which is the main HT room I have Monitor 40's for fronts, CS1 center, Paradigm Cinema ADP bi-bole's with no sub (until I get my Velodyne VRP-1200 out of the Pawn Shop). Y'all think I should go ahead and start saving to upgrade to the LSi and go ahead and get it in my main HT room? OK I think I want the LSi9 for fronts instead of the LSi15. Now say for example today I go out and buy my fronts. Should I sell the Monitor 40's, put them in one boy's room so that I just have to buy the other 40's for my other son or put it in mine and my gf's room so that I can buy all my boys speakers NIB?

I really do appreciate y'all giving me opinoins instead of making fun of me and giving me criticism. I used to be a member of Club Polk's forum and I'm telling you what if you didn't tell/ask them what they wanted to hear they were complete @$$holes over there, big time. So I really appreciate and thank you for not being like them!

By the way I just went and measured and the master bedroom is 12.4L x 16.1Wx 8H and the 2 boys rooms are 12L x 8.8Wx 8H
Hi Polk_Audio_LSi,

Would you be interested in adopting another? I could really use a 5.1 setup in my bedroom.

Regards,

JD
