hey guys, ive been posting and looking for blu rays ect. ive come to the conclusion to wait it out right now for a couple of reasons. one of them being i mainly rent movies all of the time. since it will be a long time before dvd's wont be the renting majority i was thinking about getting an upscaling dvd?

i have a sony xbr2 1080p lcd 46" tv.

i understand i will have to run a hdmi cable , that is no problem. if i get an upscaler will i get "true " 1080p, or i ect.? and

what are the best players to look at. thanks.

I'm not understanding the question. What's "true" 1080p? Is there a "false" 1080p?

SD-DVDs are recorded at 480i. Getting to 1080p is a matter of deinterlacing and scaling that. This can be done in the player or in the display, or some combination of both.

Price range? The Oppo 980 at $169 is well-liked here and I've been pleased with mine.
