The Polk LSiM 703 bookself and 706C center are on sale at Adorama. Nice center as it is 3 way. Should give you great dialog. The center is large so check measurements.

703 Cherry or Black - $449 a pair

706C center - Cherry only it seems - $349 - They may be out of stock for black.

Also check Emotiva B1+ and C2 center. Also a very nice sounding setup. Again the center is large so check measurements.

Chane A2.4 across the front.

Anything by Ascend Acoustics is going to be very nice:

$: CMT-340 (~800 for LCR)

$$: Sierra 1 ( ~ 1150 LCR)

$$$: Sierra 2 (1448 LR) Sierra Horizon center ( 1k -1.1k)
$10/box returns within 60 days if not happy.

Available in three finishes.

The AMTs in my Martin Logans are far smaller and they are crystal clear with dialog.

This 3 way design looks to be a big step up from that.

Linking to the bundle options:

3 A2.4's ($80 off)
1 A2.4, 2 A1.5's ($60 off)

https://www.chanemusiccinema.com/index.php?route=module/productbundles/listing

Also, the individual product pages indicate that the A2.4 and A1.5 are shipping free this month. Not sure if that also applies to the bundles.

To OP: you may be able to get away with the smaller A1.5 bookshelf speakers as the left and right options instead of the larger A2.4.

My tastes & priorities exactly.

Emotiva C2 plus B1 would work perfectly, $630 shipped.

Throw in a Hsu VTF-2 for a little low end if you want, another $600 and you'll be set, plus $800 under budget.

Would the Emotiva setup be superior to the Chane A2.4 + A1.5's for $568 (possibly including shipping)?

The A1.5 would be equal if not slightly better than the B1, but I would expect the C2 to be better than the A2.4 ... I suppose the ideal combo then might be the A1.5 with the C2 if one is not susceptible to the "timbre matching" superstition. :D

I don't remember noticing any timbre matching issues on any of the systems I've heard. I'm probably just not a very discerning listener.

Cap, I see the A2.4 in your signature - the A1.5 was designed to compliment it in a number of ways. It's a third larger in internal volume than a small 5" speaker, it's tuned about a third lower in frequency, and it uses the same SplitGap woofer, giving it substantially more dynamic reserve than usual. It's quite different; a true stand monitor and not a plus-sub shelf speaker. That said, stopping the rear port and converting it to sealed mode makes it compatible with subs.

Thanks. I've actually got the stopper in the A2.4 as well since it's kind of close to the back wall. It's crossed over to the sub at 80 Hz. I sent a private message to Zorba earlier today that I've been intending to pick up a pair of A1.5's to use as the fronts (moving existing fronts to surround and existing surrounds to garage).
