I am getting ready to spend a long time in the sandbox overseas and was thinking of getting a netbook and a 2TB external harddrive to fill up with movies and TV shows. Any suggestions on netbooks? The HP mini311 is advertised as 1080p capable, but I've seen horrible reviews. Thanks

I have the asus 1201n, i am posting from it now.


I have had some mixed results with 1080p. I have had it for a month now but i have been swamped at work so i have not been able to dig in and see what i need to fix.


720 MKV's play perfect.


I have had some strange audio issues using headphones plugged in concerning volume, its very low. Granted i was on a plane using iPhone buds.


I feel that i need to do a fresh Win7 install without the non asus bloatware added features.

I second the ION based solution.


Another option is to add a hardware decoder such as the Broadcom Crystal HD to a mini PCI-express slot. This will make any netbook capable of decoding 1080P
