After digging and digging (and digging), I just cannot find a single place that will tell me the odds that a Netflix disc will have the Atmos track included. I know Lions Gate releases probably will not. Other than that I'm lost.

For instance, I'm wondering if Netflix's Gravity will have Atmos. (I'm guessing it won't since there are two 2D versions of the BD release, one without Atmos.) I haven't seen the movie and I'd sure prefer to watch it with the best quality possible.

Would there be interest in a thread dedicated to compiling information on the Atmos state of Netflix discs? Or is it best for me to give up and either (a) purchase and flip/donate after watching or (b) just make sure to use http://www.store-3d-blurayrental.com/ for any Atmos discs I wish to rent? (I don't really want to collect BDs. It's a bad habit for me and I'm currently mostly broken from it.)

(Sorry if this thread is a duplicate of a similar question. I really did spend a lot of time the past couple days trying to dig up information that I suspect is buried in various mega threads somewhere.)

Terminator Genisis has Atmos. However, that is the only choice and when it plays on my older receiver the surround channels are not broadcasting. Anyone else have this problem?

Gravity did not have Atmos. Neither did Age of Adaline or John Wick.

Going off memory, I'm fairly certain most if not all of the new-release, non-LionsGate movies had Atmos. I've watched quite a few Atmos blurays from Netflix so it is definitely worthwhile (Transformers, Pixels, Mad Max, San Andreas, Terminator, etc.)

Thanks!

So if memory serves, Gravity is not Lions Gate, but since that has multiple Blu-Ray releases I suppose it makes sense Netflix would have the lowest of those.

So beware of Lions Gate and multiple releases.

I would also be interested in knowing if Netflix plans on renting UHD 4K.

So these discs on Netflix do have Atmos? Under the "Language and Sound" section on the Netflix website (at least for Mad Max), it looks like they don't list Atmos.

Mad Max Fury Road was Atmos

I just had this blu-ray from Netflix and it had Atmos, it's use was well done and really enhanced the viewing experience.

I have a Denon AVR-710SW which decodes Atmos (and DTS:X in "future firmware"... waiting for this). I was quite pleasantly surprised to see the receiver display show Atmos when this movie started.

To date, I have not seen Atmos on any Netflix streaming, but I can stram it from VUDU on a free "Atmos Digital Bundle". I understand that they stream Atmos with their "UHD" titles, but I am unable to use them becasue my new Samsung SUHD TV is not on their "approved" list. They use Dolby Vision which supposedly only works on a few Vizio TVs.

FYI On Netflix BDs -
Atmos!
The Hitman's Bodyguard (Barry already listed)
Jupiter Ascending
Mission Impossible Rogue Nation
Minions
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014) and Out of the Shadows
Lego Batman Movie
Kong: Skull Island
The Legend of Tarzan
Live by Night
Wonder Woman

DTS:X -
Atomic Blonde (Barry already listed)
Girl on the Train

Atmos on retail, not Netflix...
Mockingjay 1/2
Sicario
Transformers Age of Extinction
Mad Max Fury Road (ymmv)
Mechanic: Resurrection
Now You See Me 2

Most of the discs which should have had Atmos actually had no loseless soundtracks at all (AC3).

I will update as I find em.

Seems that if enough people request it, Netflix will add Atmos/DTS:X availability as part of their Sound & Language listings.

It already shows you what audio and language are on the discs, so its just a matter of adding one more bit of info.
Transformers Age of Extinction doesn't even list Dolby TrueHD, and we know it has Atmos.

Language and sound
English: Dolby Digital 7.1, English: DVS - Descriptive Video Service, French: Dolby Digital 5.1, Spanish (Neutral): Dolby Digital 5.1, Portuguese: Dolby Digital 5.1

Same for Mad Max Fury Road
Language and sound
English: DTS 5.1 Surround, English: DVS - Descriptive Video Service, Spanish (Neutral): DTS 5.1 Surround, French-Canadian: DTS 5.1 Surround

Shouldn't be hard for them to add. So please call or email or fill out a form on their site and see if we can get it added.

Redbox seems to be the best way to rent for those that care about atmos.... Netflix disc service ships mostly 5.1:( Rouge nation is the only Netflix disc I've gotten that had Atmos... I had hopes for Vudu atmos but it's super compressed compared to the same on bluray/uhd.... I prefer 5.1/7.1 on disc over atmos vudu.... Buying or renting redbox is still the only thing that sounds good...

Valerian-Atmos
Transformers Knights- Atmos
American Assassin- Atmos
Mummy-Atmos

Not sure on other titles available at redbox.
It would be nice if there was an active list going every week or so that kept a compiled list of atmos titles curently at the redbox.
