NeuNeo 208 to be tested with Sanyo Z1...

472 Views 4 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  Josh Z
I ordered my NeuNeo 208 over the weekend. I'll test what I can in the best fashion I can. I'm not all that video or audio "phile" but I do like to enjoy the stuff.

I will try to take screenshots...with my digital cam of course :p

Though not sure how well that all will translate for you viewers. I'll do the comparison with a standard pioneer progressive scan dvd player. So these will be output via my Sanyo PLV Z1

laters! :)

Hmm, I ordered the HVD of House of Flying Daggers...and I have my brother's HK version of it. That might be interesting:cool:

From all appearances looks like my 208 is "out for delivery". Isn't that the best feeling? It's like Xmas all the time :). Holy cow that's freakin fast delivery...all the way from Shanghai!

I love my package delivery people :D

Too bad I'm stuck at work for 8 hours or so. I hope it gets delivered and a relative accepts and doesn't get retained for "re-delivery"
my hvd208 arrived as planned...PLUS!!!!!!!

I ordered 3 dvds from another source...not hvd of course :p but they too arrived. The movies I imagine are eye candy as well...at least one. The other 2 are for the visceral fun :D.

Casshern (3 disc)

Azumi (2 disc)

Battle Royale (2 disc)

muahahahaha

I think tonight I'm going to relax and enjoy them instead of um...testing :)

Now, mind you this is the best I could do with my lazy ass...just used my digital cam to take these shots. Would have done at 5mp size but why bother right? :p

I think one of the questions/issues some ppl needed to know is aspect control? Well I THINK you don't have to worry about this player as it provides standard, pan and scan, and widescreen.

Computer hookup is flawless. Hook it up and just hit the VGA button until the compatible mode hits. No worry if there is "no signal" and you can't see anything on screen.

Now the remote isn't the most intuitive...but maybe that's just comparing US and Asian "standards". IE., if I started out with this layout it might be and vice versa.

From all appearances, since I don't have the 108 but hear it's disc tray is something to contend with, but to me it's not a big deal. Sure some people with chunky chubby fingers might want to steer clear but nothing to worry about :D. The drive motor seems to have a lot of muscle to it, capable of pulling your arm off.

Build quality is excellent. Only thing maybe to "improve" is the disc tray and perhaps add a "light" button (ala Sanyo Z1) to light up some keys :)

EDIT: OK, I wanted to post some pics for reference but guess I can't, hehe. Oh well :p

When people ask about aspect ratio control, what they want to know is whether the player will pillarbox a 4:3 picture in the center of the 16:9 screen when outputting in either 720p or 1080i.

The majority of displays on the market automatically lock into 16:9 stretch mode when they receive a 720p or 1080i signal. If you're watching a 4:3 movie (such as Gone with the Wind, Casablanca, etc) upconverted to 720p or 1080i, the display will stretch it sideways. The only solution to this is if the DVD player offers its own pillarbox function (which most don't).
