new 15 inch model information

Hi all,

Several updates due this week. 15 inch sub upgrades, 18 inch sub upgrades, the new product lineup(tentatively called "The Value Line"), The TV42 sub(dual 21 inch Ipal) update, and a few R/D updates as well.

Here's number one.

The 15 inch subwoofers using the new B&C Neo woofer will have the *12* suffix. Website pricing will increase $150 for each single woofer product and $300 for dual woofer products. Pre orders(with discounts) will begin in 2-4 weeks.

* S1512df ~ $1099

* S1512 ~ $1199

* S3012 ~ $1999

* V1512df ~ $1149

* V1512 ~ 1299

No other changes to these models. The cabinets are still made in Ohio and finished on site in our spray booth. The amplifiers are still our own proprietary DSP circuitry, ICE powered, we hand assemble right here in Ohio. The new woofers are from Italy and arguably the highest quality woofers available anywhere at these finished product price points.

Here is the 15 for those who have missed it previously. These are a significant upgrade over the current 15 inch woofers in every important metric. Motor force, linearity versus excursion, inductance, power handling/thermal stability,build quality and an incredible 96dB of sensitivity. The end result is a subwoofer that sounds more powerful and more accurate.

Any insights on what level of performance improvement to expect?
Any info on the value line yet?

Hi,

I could talk about the benefits of the B&C designs for a while but the main points are

* better linearity versus excursion
* much better inductance control
* much better thermal handling and overall durability(damage resistance)
* much stronger motor force
* much higher sensitivity and efficiency

All of this adds up to a louder, more accurate bass presentation. And with demanding material at louder volume the benefits are clearly audible.

Working on it..:)

Most everything has been finalized now. I'm just crunching numbers to figure out just how MUCH of a "value" I can present..:)

The new product line will eventually include a full lineup of subwoofers and speakers. But initially, it will be two subwoofers(that will be shipping 4th quarter 2019).

I may try to circle back to this tonight before leaving the office. It's a difficult (for me anyway) balance because I don't want to "talk up" new products WAY before being able to ship them. But, on the other hand, I don't want someone receiving a subwoofer 4-6-8 weeks before the new subs would be available for pre-order and then wishing they had known.

I don't anticipate the first speakers in this model line being available until second half 2020. And they certainly won't be similar to the current 110/210/210T speakers is overall performance. They will be more of a 5.0 / 7.0 package for $999 type of thing.

Thanks Tom!

Where will you announce it?
PSA FB?
AVS vendor PSA thread?
AVS PSA owner's thread?
PSA website?

I just wanna make sure I have the most updated info so I can let some friends know, they are currently in the market for a vented sub $700-$900 I told them just to wait a couple more weeks hopefully for your announcement.

Here and AVnirvana for sure. If I get it to load on FB there too. Half of what I put into FB just saves as "draft" and never gets posted so whatever.

I may try to send out a newsletter this week when I have all of the info ready.(new 15 stuff, new 18 stuff, new value stuff, and maybe all of the info about possible neo/ipal upgrades for products in the field. Oh and the same for the new B&C tweeter as well)...sigh...there's a lot left to do..:)

So the V1512df and the V1512 will be in the same enclosures as the 1510 with the same amp and just the upgraded neo driver, or are the enclosures different as well?

Nothing changes on each model except the woofers and the DSP programming in the amps.

Hi all,

Per requests here is a picture of our current 15 inch woofer next to the new B&C 15 were using in the new *12* series 15 inch models. I wouldn't put too much weight into the aesthetics of the woofers myself but I understand we all like visuals..:)

NEO(new 12 series) on left.

IMO, these are the more important considerations when comparing the two.

Current 15
peak thermal rating ~ 1200w
sensitivity ~ 90dB
motor strength(bl^2/re) ~ 140
no inductance rings

Those are all very good numbers,we've used these woofers for years with thousands of products in the field with great results.

B&C 15 (*12* series)
Peak Thermal rating ~ 3200w
sensitivity ~ 96dB
motor strength ~ 350
aluminum demodulating ring for inductance control.

As good as the current 15 is, the new B&C is just in another league..:)

Quick shot of the S1512.

Just something to show what the new neo 15s looks like in the satin black.

Considering that the only changes are woofers and DSP programming, will the woofers allow these to be configured for stronger ULF output, and if so are you going to configure them to do so? I know you can't put numbers on performance increases right now, but it would be helpful to know qualitatively whether the performance increase is relatively even across the board or biased toward the low end.

I'm particularly interested in the S3012 but wouldn't mind hearing about the others as well. My XS30 is doing very well for me with my only "complaint" being some missing ULF. It would be music to my ears to learn that the S3012 will be a significant ULF boost over previous models.

We had a bit of discussion about this over in the owner's thread and Tom may not post a response here. The general consensus based on what we know of the new drivers is a very slight gain on the low end of maybe 1db-1.5db in the 16-25 hz region, but then a much more sizable increase above that. Of course that is just speculation without hard test data. The biggest perceived difference may be the difference in sound quality as the Neo will have a different sound signature and you will be able to push them harder without them distorting.

Tom can probably say more if you give him a call.

I know this is a bit old now, but i currently have dual S1811's and wondered how dual S1512's would compare, and what would i be missing out on
if i went down this route?

I am UK based and live in a top floor apartment/flat as a result don't get anywhere close to using the available headroom the S1811's give me, so thought the S1512's might be a better option, especially if the bass is cleaner, or would i not notice it at lower levels?

Any thoughts/advice much appreciated.
I know the TV1512 is put on hold but is there any preliminary information we can get about it?

Nothing groundbreaking. I modified an existing V1512 cabinet to support a deeper tuning point. I have three different options for that ranging from about 12.75hz to 14.75hz.

Same 15 inch Italian Neo, Same Ohio built ICE(with a new dsp program).

Thank you. I hope these come to fruition soon. I think these would likely fit my space well.
I hate to pile on with more questions but in addition to the TV1512, is there any possibility of a TV3012?

You might get more action on this question in the PSA thread on the subwoofer forum. you really don't lose anything having larger subs than you need. Unless you just want smaller subs, keep what you got.

Having said that, though, I am not familiar with the differences in the drivers. your S1811 has an older driver and the S1512 has the new Neo driver which is supposed to be a big upgrade but is it enough to make an S1512 competitive with an S1811? I wouldn't think so but the folks in the PSA support thread will have better answers for you.
