New 9th Gen Panny Commerical PDPs... May ?

1070 Views 14 Replies 11 Participants Last post by  zaracsan
Anyone hear any rumors when the new commercial Pannys are going to hit the stores? Panasonic announced last month that the 9th Gen HD 42" and 37" panels would be available in May (TH-42PR9U / TH-37PR9U).

The ED panels (TH-42PG9U / TH-37PG9U) are supposed to be in stores in August.

Looks like MSRP for the 42 is $2395 and $2195 for the 37.

Some interesting stuff in that press release. However - I believe the MSRP does not make sense...that was for the ED panels...which really does not make sense.

Also caught that these units will have speakers...and 16 bit processing...

Wonder how "real" the release is and whether there are some significant typo's...

with 50in true hdtv's breaking the 2k mark, I sincerely hope panny isn't going to try to sell me a 24 hundred dollar 42 inch edtv without a stand or full inputs!

TY-42M6MA Tuner Board? Isn't this a first??? Haven't seen it before, at least in the stuff I've read.
There is no reference to the 50" plasma in the press release

Sure is. I've hoped for a long time that they would develop a tuner blade for their professional/industrial models.
These are hospitality panels --for hotels. I believe they are shipped bladeless and the tuner board I believe has something to do with the entertainment systems used in hotels and has been available. Its odd the 9 gen is announced as a hospitality panel.

I also thought it odd that these niche PDPs are being released first. Do we even know for sure that these are the mainstream gen 9 Commercial displays that many of us are waiting on? I did find a pic of the new display in another press release, but I can't be positive the photo is what is being referred to in the article.

Yeah the MSRP for the 42" ED panel is about the same price you can buy the 42PX60U at B&M stores... Doesn't seem right at all....

If that is what 9th gen Panny Commercial is going to be then I say that's one hell of ugly TV...... omg... Did they do that on purpose? If "I" was the Panny designer, I'll make it the sexiest.... and most defined....... the bestestestest looking plasma.

I'm not so sure it really is. Since the previous Commercials models were sans the speakers, I'm inclined to think that the speakers under the screen are part of what makes this a "hospitality" model, and the Commercial models will be just like the gen 8s. I really do hope this is not a preview of things to come for the Commercial PDP. Bad enough they ruined the Consumer aesthetic with that gawd awful return of the silver theme...
