New receiver recommendations?

Hello, riding straight from the following threads

https://www.avsforum.com/forum/113-...subwoofer-recommendation-music-questions.html

https://www.avsforum.com/forum/89-speakers/3085586-looking-next-level-possibilities-audioengine.html

I've now settled on purchasing a pair of JBL 350's with a Rythmik Audio F12 Subwoofer :D.
However, I'm now looking at what I should be connecting these pieces of equipment to as I'm most unfamiliar with the amplifier aspect of audio equipment.
My budget here will be roughly 500-700 unless I do need something more here then I will play by ear.

I was looking at the PS Audio Sprout100, however I'm assuming this is 150w max (75w for 6 ohm although it only mentions 50w for 8 ohm and 100 for 4 ohm) and from what I can tell from a 86db sensitivity I may need more wattage than this to drive these (plus the subwoofer as well I'm assuming).

I understand that I will need at most a 6 ohm amp with 300w for each channel however like I mentioned I'm not entirely certain which type of amplifier I would need to hook up to both of these and I will be connecting both of these to my MacBook Pro as well (I suspect I will need a DAC + Amplifier unless it's possible to buy a unit with both of these integrated if this is what an integrated amplifier provides).

So to recap, I have a few questions here for this and amplifiers in general:

1) What type of amplifier should I be looking at for both of these (and should I be looking at a class D amplifier as well)

2) What's the difference between say, something like a sprout100 and some others mentioned in the 2nd thread link (i.e. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077GWVHHN/?pldnSite=1 and/or < $500) and something like the PSAudio Stellar/BHK systems or Elac's DPA-2 if these are in the same category.
If not, what different types of amplifiers are these 2 categorized in?

3) Will I be able to buy a singular unit to satisfy my needs and if so will I need to look at an integrated amplifier here?
The less to deal with in general the better unless that's not how this works here in which case that's completely fine for the level of equipment and investments involved.

Thanks!

You couldn't pay me to take a Sprout, those things measure horribly. Look at the NAD C328 or C338 if you're really just looking for an integrated amp with DAC.

Personally I would just get a receiver :)

The Rythmik F12 is a powered sub, so it contains its own amp. The best way to provide its input signal is from an amp with a crossover, so the lows are sent to the sub (and not to the Studio 530s). There are other ways to drive the sub, but the single LFE input is the best.

Don't get an Elac DPA-2. It's intended for use with a stereo system with no subwoofer.

Ditto for the cheap Chinese 2 channel amps. Some of the better ones have sub outs, but I wouldn't bet that any include crossovers.

(I used to have an HK3490 stereo receiver, bought new in 2012. It had a sub out, with no crossover. The sub out was more of an afterthought; the receiver was really intended for 2.0, not 2.1.)

I concur with "ratbuddy": get a receiver. Better value, and a crossover. (Note to analog freaks: modern AVRs use digital signal processing to provide the crossover, so the may be no subwoofer signal in "direct" mode.)

Ah yes my bad, I'm currently at a loss of sleep and completely forgot this part, so just concerning the JBL's should be fine as far as that goes.

I'm curious if the Sonos amp would work here as well as how decent this particular amplifier/receiver is since it does more than enough for what I'm looking for feature wise although I'm not certain about the crossover here, and if not are there any other brand recommendations as far as receivers go as well?
I found a decent list on crunchfield with these. https://www.crutchfield.com/g_356350/Stereo-Receivers.html?tp=47041

Again not very versed in this area as much as speakers/subwoofers goes. Thanks.

EDIT: After a quick search it seems as though some are having EQ issues with automatic profile adjustments based on what's plugged in with the sonos. Will definitely be looking for a receiver I believe, so this is my next venture of research. ;)

EDIT 2: Any receiver suggestions by any chance? I know from just looking around there's onkyo, dennon, pioneer, and now NAD as well as some other's although it seems as though there's not much to go wrong with in this area, provided an external DAC is preferable here.

Bump. See second edit for more information as generally I’m open to either an integrated amplifier here or a receiver however it seems like a receiver would indeed be more versatile. Just looking for recommendations in the area of receivers is all now, and if an external DAC is advisable here as well. :)
Check out the Yamaha R-N 803 Receiver. 100 wpc, built in Wi-Fi, Sub out, Phono stage, Headphone output, digital and analog inputs also YPAO room correction. Just a bit over your budget at $749. :)
Maybe check out the Onkyo TX-8270 or Denon DRA-800H. 100WPC, variable crossover, $500. I've owned the 8270's Integra half-brother the DTM-7 for almost 2 years and it's been a champ with my 85dB Cantons. I'd say the only downsides are no room correction and no pre-outs.

Just grab last years Denon X3000 series AVR such as the 3500 or whatever last years model is. It will allow you to run excellent Audysey room correction and limit the frequencies (with the cell phone app)you eq to below 3-400 as should be done. Excellent subwoofer eq, even if you add a second sub some day. You can usually get them for $5-$600.

You have the option to expand to more channels if you ever want to, and even have a HEOS speaker in another part of the house for background music if you'd like.

Just found a sale on the X3600H for $899 and price matches at Best Buy. 🙂

EDIT: Just purchased for in store pickup. Thanks everyone! 😄

So I received my receiver however it was impractical for me to use due to the very limited amount of space/furniture I use. There was essentially no alternate space for this thus was returned. I may go with the original NAD recommendation, but I am currently just looking for an amplifier since I have virtually no interest in home theater for the foreseeable future and eARC ending up not working at 4K with a MacBook (though this may have been due to the amazonbasics high speed HDMI cables, not entirely sure here). I will not need the extra functionality essentially here it turns out. A lower price will be a better deal in this case. Something the shape of the NAD is also preferable as well. I may just go with the NAD, however just looking for any other alternate recommendations before so. Thanks!

EDIT: After further research, settled on the NAD D 3020 V2. :)

So after running through the NAD and the Sonos AMP, I am still looking for a solution. The NAD did seem to have quality issues, as did the Sonos (more so due to Airplay sounding better than 3.5mm to RCA, however this was impractical in use as it disconnected constantly). My belief is that I am looking for a non-integrated (unless this is not recommended) Amplifier with a DAC (Unless an external DAC is recommended). As for the PS Audio, what do you mean by "measures" in this case, and horribly how so? Sorry, I am new to this area as I did more research into speakers. Also, what is the difference between the Sprout and it's form factor (or a generally less expensive amp) and say, something such as the Stellar and its larger form factor (or something more expensive), as the price difference here is over $1000. Are the targeted markets of these 2 products different in some way?

3 Notes:

1) My main source of music here is Soundcloud, so whatever fits the bill to their sound quality (non GO+). :)
2) I am currently not looking to do anything beyond music directly from a computer (more so in the EDM genre) as I have no plans for home theater use, phono, etc. Money is really the main factor here as I am targeting somewhere (preferably) $700 or less. This is mainly for a solution that is functional and of quality above features, or whatever "fits the bill" in my use case. I also prefer a smaller form factor if this achievable here as I'm working with limited space currently (something of the Sprout's form factor, if possible).
3) If preferred, I can also purchase a DAC separately than the Amplifier here, if this is justifiable for this scenario of use. I'm not entirely sure here, would one piece or a DAC + Amplifier would be better in this case?

EDIT: Going to try the NAD c328 as originally suggested here. Will update if any further issues come up more than likely, but I do not foresee any issues here with this model as a step up from the 3020. My only question here is would the 40/50w per channel be sufficient to drive these speakers? If so, would Bluetooth or optical input be more beneficial here?
