This is exciting news, I really love ASUS quality and now it looks like (yet to be confirmed) that they are using the new Sharp panels that have not been released in the US. This includes the 4 wavelength backlight and 6ms panels!!! Only one HDMI so far though. It definitely looks great.

The newer versions have the multi-pixel technology which increases viewing angle to 176/176.
So mike, what panels are these then?

First of all they list 1080p, secondly 6ms refresh rate and a higher contrast ratio but only one HDMI... so is it just a special panel made for asus? Can subcontracted companies cherry pick certain specs and choose the type of panels they want?
The panel itself has nothing to do with the inputs on the set.

It could be a "tweener" panel. (Between the current and the next newer panels). FOr instance the new 65" has the same specs but not the multi-pixel technology that improves the viewing angle. Sharp OEMs for all kinds of companies (from different factories). Some of the older factories that used to make consumer panels are now making panels for Sony PSP and cellular phones. As R11 said, the panel has no bearing on the connections upplied by the finished product.
ok thx for the info...

i meant that the specs on the panels (not the inputs) could cherry picked... but thx for answering my questions...
