Hello All, I am have a small dilemma on where to put my door. Any ideas would be great. Here is some construction details of my project. Included a bad drawing of the HT.

Front and left wall: Concrete block, furred w/2x4 w/ R19 batted, 1/2" GB

Right and back wall: 2x4 w/ 3" Wet Cellulose, RSIC-1, 1/2" GB

Ceiling: 12" Joist filled with dry Cellulose, RSIC-1, 5/8" GB

Seats are 123.4" and 48" deep. (rows of 4's recliners)

Rear seats are on a 10" raised platform.

Seats are 3" off the left wall and center to the screen.

Stage is 4" filled with sand.

The gap between the seats and right wall is 23" or so.

I have picked up many ideas from this forum and try to integrate them

into my HT. I am at the beginning phase of the framing. Any suggestions or comments would be much appreciated.

Thank you in advanced.

It's not clear to me where your stairs landing is, looks like at the top of this diagram, because you have an equip closet underneath on the other end? Anyway, I think you'd want your door located in the back right of the room. That lines it up nicely with your aisle on the right side. It also makes the HT accessible from the bar/open area. Do you have any HVAC ducting or overhead beams that you'll have to work around?

On the other hand, you could make a case for putting it at the front right if you anticipate that you'd want easy access from the upper floor instead, but I think that an entrance in the back of the room should be your first choice.

23" sounds like a pretty narrow aisle, perhaps you can open it up a bit? Do you need seating for 8? What about 2 rows of 3 and a wider aisle?

I was thinking about 2 rows of 3 and I might still go with that config, but I wanted to make it possible for rows of 4. You are correct on the staircase landing, it is at the top. I also thought the back right corner would be a good place for the door. I think I will have the door in the hallway. Thanks for the response.

On the construction side I took a lot of ideas from previous posts, is there anything else I should include in the wall construction?
