"New" bulb issue with Panny 52DL52

597 Views 2 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  TV Casualty
A friend of mine recently had to replace the lamp on his Panasonic 52DL52. He did it himself, but said when he was done and turned the TV on, the picture only came up as b&w with a lot of flicker. I came by today and took a video of it (see below). I'm mostly an LCD guy so my knowledge in this area is pretty limited. Anyone have any idea what the issue could be? Is it just a faulty bulb or did he do something wrong? Or does it seem like it's some other issue?

Possibly of note is that he ordered the bulb like a year ago in anticipation of his old one dying, so it has just been sitting for a year.

Example video (.3g2/Quicktime vid):

*EDIT* - For completeness sake, this is happening on every input.

Not a lamp issue. Usually on dlp, lack of color means the colorwheel is bad. Looks like it is not cheap and probably not a simple diy repair. Is the Tv menu also affected?

Damn. I was worried it may be a colorwheel issue. It's just odd because the issue occured right when he replaced the lamp. Yes, the menu is also affected. Thanks for the response. If anyone else has any insight, fire away.
