Hey all,


Just ordered a new bulb for my optoma HD65. Assuming I plug it in and the thing works, (said its an optoma bulb) is there any other kind of break in practices that are worth doing?


Wasn't sure if it was bad to run it at full light cannon brightness or whatnot for a while. (or have it to show slides, widescreen, etc)

No break-in necessary, plug it in and go. As far as your comment about "full light cannon brightness", if you mean Normal vs Eco mode, fine. But if you're talking about the Brightness settings in the menu, then you should be made aware that any such changes in the menu do NOT do ANYTHING to the lamp.


The lamp runs full-tilt (in Normal mode) regardless of where you set the Brightness. What that is doing is controlling the image signal level to the LCD or DLP panels. Think of it like venetian blinds on a window. The sun is putting out a steady amount of light. By varying the opening in the blinds, you are controlling the amount of light coming in.
