I would appreciate any immediate feedback as I have found this forum to be very helpful.

Am trying to make a final decision so my cabinet maker can complete and install a custom cabinet for a special event in November. I am looking at a 52 inch maximum size set and have come down to the Mits 725 or the JVC 52 HDILA (The burn-in comments have scared me in this forum have scared me away from plasmas). To be honest, I am not pleased with either of my choices. Although I am not yet worried about the rainbow effect because I have never seen it at the stores (maybe I should be worried), I still am not pleased with the Mits 725 anti-glare screen (my spot will still have a fair amount of outside window light). I also do not trust taking the screen off with kids around. Lastly, the facial tones of the 725 seem to be more harsh than the JVC.

As for the JVC, its picture is not as sharp and when looking at an edge (eg- shoulder of a person) seems to show more movement, pix-elation or shimmering than the Mits. Also, there seems to be a lack of availability (at least with the American TV stores in this marketplace).

My question is whether anyone is aware of the introduction of any new sets in DLP or LCos in the next month (other than the MIts 825 or the JVC HD-52Z795) which might be an improvement over the sets I mentioned above. If not, does anyone have any information as to whether other new sets are expected in January or at the least February involving better technology or are we really looking at later Spring next year.

There probably is not a good answer at this point to my dilemma but my teenagers will soon be out of the house if I wait much longer and I am buying this unit for their use with friends (note: they do not use video games) as well as mine. Thanks for any opinions or new information anyone can offer.

Just read in a JVC thread that someone was told that JVC halted production to fix an issue and that in 2 weeks or so the updated models would be shipping again. So if true, not new models, but models with fewer issues should be coming from JVC. There is no burn in with sets not having phosphorus typically. Not saying impossible, but unlikely that burn-in will be an issue. As previously stated, JVC simply neglected to remove the burn-in statement from their manual leftover from a CRT version manual.
