New Farscape Miniseries - Sun & Mond

1168 Views 28 Replies 18 Participants Last post by  ChemEng
For those who dont know or forgot, the new Farscape Miniseries is starting tonight on the Scifi channel and finishing up on Monday

For those who dont know, its one of the best science fiction shows ever made and was eventually canceled due to its high budget and Scifi channel new direction of not showing so much traditional science fiction (go figure) and their brilliant idea of pushing shows like Tremor The Series, Crossing over with Edwards and some freaky reality show

Anyway, we are hoping that with good ratings, they will either bring it back, make it into a movie or make annual miniseries

The Tivo is set and ready, my friend! Cant wait!
Thanks for the reminder! Almost missed it!
My Replaytv is on the job ;)
Daniel

Until 8pm CT tonight, "Don't forget Farscape Sunday 8pm CT on the Sci-Fi Channel" was my signature line! (Doing my best to help the ratings)

I'll surely enjoy this one and tomorrow night's show as well. And in case anyone missed it or forgot to record the first showing, they're repeating it twice tonight. Tomorrow's Part 2 will also be shown three times, starting at 6pm CT.

John Edwards: Crossing Over canceled? Do you think he saw that coming?
I was watching part one Sunday 10/17 off Dish Network on a 100 inch screen and saw lots of annoying mesh-patterned artifacts especially noticeable in reddish colored areas. What the frell? Anyone else notice this? It looked more like a color decoding error than a MPEG artifact to me but I'm not an expert. Also it seemed to be particular to the program feed because I didn't see the same artifact on many of the commercials or on other channels like the Yankees Red Sox game live on Fox. It was not noticeable on a 27" screen. I was using the S-video output from the receiver box to a CRT projector. By the way, other than the artifacts, I enjoyed the program except that it seemed like they were trying to cram too much in, must have been confusing to non-scapers
I watched it last night off D* and noticed nothing out of the oridnary with the picture on my 110" screen.

BTW the mini series is already scheduled for release early next year.
Loved the 2001 bit with Scorpio at the end. I always liked the fact that this show never took itself too seriously. It seems like they wrapped everything up in a bow, with no loose ends to unravel in another story line.

Not exactly.

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show) We don't see Dargo actually die. I doubt that he is really dead. Let me put it like this: the writers left it so that Dargo can come back. As for the Scarran would be empress - one shot and she is dead? I don't think so, it is supposed to take many shots to drop a Scarran. She is still alive and she didn't sign a peace treaty. If the other Scarrans are unhappy with the situation, the Emperor can be deposed, which means the war is back on. Sikozu isn't dead and she met up with Grunschlik. That's a whole new story ready to go. Aeryn's pregnancy was sped up. So the child's development is sped up as well? I guess so and I bet if there are ever more episodes we would see someone who looks like a teen (can't leave out that demographic). Scorpi says "this is insane" yet admires the wormhole weapon and has a mischievous grin on his face. It looks to me that he isn't turned off to wormholes at all. And what exactly *was* his motivation? We never really found out what he really would have done with the wormhole knowledge. What about the Nebari freedom fighters? That wasn't wrapped up at all. What about Zhaan? No mention at all. Pilot sounded weird. They must have replaced Lani Tupu with someone else.
All in all, I liked it. This is a show that doesn't take itself too seriously. A scifi show that laughs with us and at itself isn't very common. Imagine Star Trek with this kind of cheekiness. Impossible.

I guess you're right Larry, but it was a nice ( possible ) ending to the series.

Love your location. ;) and Thanks. Really.
Loved this show from about midway through the first season til the end. Loved the mini-series as well. It brought a tear to my eye to see Moya fly off at the end to some beautiful music, knowing we won't ever see Moya and her crew again. Well, other than re-runs.
Larry, just wanted to point out:

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show) Spoiler
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show) The planet was destroyed by the wormhole weapon so anyone who was on the planet is dead.
I can't wait to see it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I LOVE Farscape, and I LOVE John Crichton, he is EXTREMELY cool!

Man, those last 4 days of my honeymoon watching EVERY single episode

was great.

I can now see how stiff and boring Star Trek is.
And for those that look forward to the DVD release, the mini-sereis will debut on January 18th, in anamorphic widescreen, Dolby 5.1, and will also include a 30 minute documentary on the mini-series. Thanks to TVShowsonDVD and The Digital Bits for the heads-up! :) I can't wait!!!

Now if they'd just drop the prices on the complete seasons... or better yet start the series up again!
Nich, you spent four days of your honeymoon watching Farscape? With your new spouse, I hope? Just checking ... :)

Mojo
Yeha, she likes it too, but I'm a night person.:)

I pulled many 8-hour shifts, JUST watching Farscape.

It would be nice to see this in HD. It was shown on the VOOM channel in high def, so maybe it will be released on HD some day. That would be a treat.

HD on Voom...? You sure it wasn't just a good upconvert?
