New Firmware version for Mitsubishi DLPs : V26 004.05

1922 Views 15 Replies 9 Participants Last post by  UMD_Terp
After realizing that my WD-52725 had firmware version 4.03, I decided to "convince" Mitsubishi to upgrade me to 4.04. So Monday night I called in to report some "random lock-ups". They told me that they would send me the latest firmware upgrade. Today (Thursday) I received the upgrade CF Card. I followd the simple instructions to upgrade my firmware. After completing the upgrade I check which version was installed and to my surprise it reads V26 00.4.05. I don't know what bugs have been fixed but I was very pleased to have received the new update. Just wanted to let you guys know of the update.

I would surely inquire just what was changed!
I'm not really sure what changes/bug fixes are included in the new firmware version. Mitsubishi didn't list them on the included documentation, but I sure am glad that I received the new update(4.05) rather than the old one(4.04) though. I'm sure somebody will be able to find out though.
Wow, mine is v26 4.01.. What number do I call to get the upgrade? When they ask why I need it what do I tell them? Thanks
CANYOUSAYHEMI,

Call (866) 252-4333, tell them that you are experiencing random lock-ups, and that occasionally the TV just turns itself off. Tell them that it is really annoying you and that you would expect a tv of this price to operate more reliably. They will want the serial number off of your tv, and will want to check to firmware version(So make sure you call from home). Just play dumb and let them walk you through finding it(even though you already know what version you have). They will then want your address etc. Ask them when you should expect the update. I received mine in 2 days. VIOLA!
I will give it a shot, thanks

I got my stand last night and hooked everythin back up the same way i had it and now the dvd won't play. I can hear it through the speakers, but all i have is a blue screen. I have a JVC home theatre with the built in DVD. Any suggestions??? Thanks
Does that upgrade work for the 62825?
I don't think this update will work on an 825 series tv due to the DVR. The paper that comes with this update lists models:

52525 62525

52725 62725

There might be an update for the 825 though. You will just have to call Mitsubishi to find out.
My upgrade should be here Tuesday Mits said. I will let yall know how it goes. Thanks for the input
I called Mitsubishi today and they will be sending me the new firmware V26 004.05. If anyone knows what it fixes, please post.
I belive it fixes more issues with cablecard access and fixes the problem some were having regarding the remote commands being sluggish or just plain freezing up at times. I've been running it for the past two weeks and so far, no issues...
I've been hounding them on an Issue I have... On a Mits 62525 here...

The Digital Audio ouput, even when muted, outputs a digital clock signal..

and this digital clock signal will force downstream digital audio gear (Bose, Sony, and JVC so far...) to the muted digital ouput, instead of the analog output, as referenced to the 62525 Operations manual Section 14 on Page 12, where it says that the digital output will TURN OFF, and allow the analog output to continue on..

I was told that V1.04 would fix the problem... When it didn't, and I contacted them, they RE-SENT V1.04 and I installed it again... Still didn't fix the problem... Last week they tell me that V1.05 will be sent, and will fix the problem...... I haven't received that yet to try it...

The symptom is as follows: If you feed both Digital and Analog audio to a downstream audio device that will accept both audios, and autoswitch...

If you view a HDTV signal, you should be outputting Both Digital & Analog audio, and the downstream gear will sense the digital auido, and automatically switch to digital audio.. However, if you switch to an analog audio source (one of the other inputs) or, an SD Rectption, The Mits 62525 will mute the digital audio, and your downstream device should switch to Analog inputs, EXCEPT THE DIGITAL CLOCK ON THE DIGITAL AUDIO OUTPUT (NOW MUTED BECAUSE OF ANALOG OR SD AUDIO FEED) WILL NOW FORCE DOWNSTREAM GEAR TO SWITCH TO THE (NOW MUTED) DIGITAL AUDIO OUTPUT. WHICH IS NOW NON-EXISTANT!

Please read Section 14 on Page 12 of the manual, where it clearly states that both Digital and Analog audio output can be connected to downstream gear... It can't with this software bug!!!

There is a temporary work around.... Connect the digital audio to a downstream source that will not be used when the Mits 62525 is on... In other words, hook the analog audio from TV to TV on downstream device, and Digital audio to the AUX input of the downstream device.

But that causes operational issues of other kinds..

Mitsubishi has been aware of this problem (From Me) since October of last year.... Hopefully V1.05 will fix it!

Just updated my WD-52525 from .03 to .05 (Build was July 2004). A couple of things that I noticed it fixed:

1) The digital sound issue, where the clock signal was holding a AV receiver from finding the analog sound when it digital doesn't exist.

2) With cable card, I now can see two analog channels side-by-side when using POP. I lost it when I upgraded to .03, and now its back. Mitsubishi originally stated it wasn't supposed to let you see analog, as it supposed to not let you see a device side by side. I pulled the cable card and used straight to the TV cable during the football season. Now I can use my cable card again to its intended use and see some of the HD channels I couldn't see previously.
The most universe shattering news would be if Mitsubishi would come out with the firmware to allow Copy Move and Simultaneously Delete of material from the PVR to D-VHS via Firewire. If they did that they'd sell millions of them--they would also cause the legal battle of the century but maybe the Supreme Court woould once and for all have to address the legality of archiving under Fair Use.

I wonder if this issue is similar to the issue a lot of us have with the 525/725... basically you can't dump anything from the QAM tuner to a DVHS deck... I've tried countless times with and without a cablecard and I can not send anything to my Mitsubishi DVHS deck from the QAM tuner. I have a case open with Mitsubishi about this and someone is supposed to get back to me eventually. A lot of people have tried PCs with DVHS software and everyone has been unsuccessful which leads me to believe the firmware is blocking the QAM tuner output from going out over firewire.

Dumping a video stream from the ATSC tuner to the DVHS deck works as far as I can tell so it seems that something in the firmware is amiss...
