New G90 scam?

539 Views 8 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  matrix
Hi all,

I've just come across on scam-bay this sexy auction (# 5753708893) for two (!) G90's that looks exactly the same as the ones that were previously discussed about some time ago. Only that now the seller has a pretty good reputation is in the U.S., but it looks like he's mostly sold clothing so far. I believe he's account has been hacked. I thought I'd better bring this to your attention, but correct me if I'm wrong

Cheers

If you compare the listing for the G90's to the sellers other listings, you will see it is in a totally different format. The email address he mentions in the G90 ad is nowhere to be found in the old ads.

I know, you're right! I just thought it might be useful to point it out so these scammers have a harder time

Cheers
The listing has just this second been pulled....
Man my G90's are popular.....lol

I emailed the guy before the auction was pulled.

Hi,

Thank you for your interest in purchasing my projectors. The projectors are

in perfect condition. The price of them including shipping and insurance is

around $4000. The shipping will be done with FedEx. The payment process will

be done through Square Trade. Square Trade will hold the payment until you

receive the projectors. I'm based in Chicago, Illinois.

If you agree with moving forward with the deal through Square Trade, please

email me as soon as possible your full name and address.

As soon as I receive these information from you I will send them to Square

Trade along with the rest of the details in order to open a case regarding

our deal.

After you receive the confirmation from Square Trade please send me an email

with your position in order to make the arrangements for the shipping

process.

In case we have a deal, you'll have 14 days to check if the projectors are

in good working condition. If you are not satisfied with what you get, but I

doubt that will happen, you can ship it back within 14 day for a full

refund, no question asked.

These are my terms and I am sure that all will go smoothly and without

problems for both of us.

Best Regards

Another possible scam, but on a lower price point, is someone with low feedback

selling two Marquee 8000s using the same photos that were on the .gov

surplus auction site for similar machines a while back. Something just tells

me that he doesn't really have the projectors. I guess it's because he's

saying they'll ship via priority mail for 50-odd dollars, which is utterly absurd.

The mail won't even TOUCH something that heavy, at ANY price, and it wouldn't

be by priority mail in any event.

I sent the guy a message asking for the hours on the meter, and gave the sequence to enter on the remote to read it.

No answer yet, of course. :)

CJ,

Though I don't think that this happening in this case, I have seen folks put up projectors on Ebay that haven't come up yet on government auctions. Say the pics are put up a month in advance on the government site. The ebay seller about two weeks ahead of the auction close would post pics on Ebay. The Ebay auction would close before the government one, allowing the seller to know exactly what to bid. That seller did in fact deliver some of the projectors, other times, when they went higher than what he got for them on Ebay he would tell the high bidder sorry, but the projectors were stolen, flooded, taken by martians, whatever. Crazy what folks will do..

I am still playing the guy from the G90's. I just suggested the "I will send you a cashiers check form my off shore bank" deal to him. He wants to use his own escrow service. Ha!
