So I'm building a new house and will be putting in the audio/video relatively quickly.
First room is the family room and has a high WAF (meaning, in wall speakers only). The room is very open (no wall between it and kitchen and it opens up 2 stories in the family room part). The family room itself is approximately 18'6" by 18' and two stories high. TV will be wall mounted. Couches approximately 16' away. Walls will be 3-4' away from nearest seating areas. Would prefer 7.1; but would be happy with 5.1 (no idea where I'd hide a sub yet!). Mostly used for tv watching and some movies/sports.
Would also like to add a few outside speakers that run off of this receiver (receiver not purchased yet).
Second room is my baby (basement). Will have my projector and will be for movies/sports and some video games.
Dimensions: 9' ceiling, 44' long (bar in back 8' or so) 17'6" wide. Projector will sit at 16'2" from wall, couches directly underneath it. I can do any speakers I want, ie. no WAF. I have a nice Denon (forget model number off hand) but it does 7.2 I have a set of 3 year old 5.1 speakers (Fluance) that I can use/sell (likely sell) to get new ones.
Total budget for both rooms probably around $3,000 or so. Obviously the less I spend the better, but I won't go cheap if it makes sense to spend more. All help is appreciated!
