New House - Questions about DVRs, Media Servers, and Home Networks

I'm moving into a new house in about a month... I'm still trying to figure out exactly how I want to make everything work together. I'm enlisting your help and opinions on which options are the best. I'll precursor this with letting you know that I am technologically able to assemble any system needed to achieve my tasks so don't worry about things getting too complicated.

bump.
I think you will get more of a response on media server questions in the HTPC forum here. As far as PVR's my understanding is that Voom is going to have a HDPVR that is nearly everything you are asking for including access to .jpg and .mp3's on a networked computer. They are even talking about having wireless clients. Tivo is also supposed to be offering a home network option in the future but I haven't heard of an ETA.

Also for remote TV's you could get a video sender. They take a RCA connection and send it to a receiver in the 2.4 GHz spectrum. Pair that with a RF remote and it should work.
ok thanks i'll try reposting in a different forum... or maybe i'll split up my questions ;)
