Hi All,

Just received my new TV 3 days ago and what I thought would be 3 days of fun has turned to frustration. I've been doing HTPC and PC to TV for a long time and I've never had this much trouble. Really need some help. Here are the details:

Challenges:

1. No G-sync presence or options in nvidia control panel
2. No PC resolutions available above 1360x768
3. "No input" after selecting HDMI Deep Color (4K) on LG: RTX3060 and TV lose sync
4. Unable to turn on Game optimizer on LG: RTX3060 and TV lose sync
5. Can barely achieve 60Hz at higher resolutions. Must have 30Hz selected just to turn on HDR

Efforts:

1. Ensured HDMI ports on LG set to PC
2. I've tried 3 new cables including newest RUIPRO and PHOOSSNO Gen 2
3. Ensured latest nvidia driver. Tried older drivers
4. Used DDU to remove driver, reinstall driver, tried older driver
5. Reset TV to factory defaults
6. Various others I've probably forgotten

INTERESTINGLY ENOUGH:

On my Gigabyte mobo I have onboard HDMI port with Intel UHD Graphics 770 chipset.

1. I can hit 2560x1440 at 120Hz
2. I can enable HDMI Deep color 4K on LG and maintain sync with PC
3. I can enable HDR with no problems

So right now my onboard video is kicking the crap out of my $700 (at the time) nvidia card.

What's really killing me is I've found all these videos out there of people doing exactly what I'm trying to do apparently with no problem. Sure they might have a 3080 or a 3090 and one is a G2 not a C2, but does that matter?

They ALL show the higher resolutions available under PC but I don't have that. It is maddening. HELP!!!

You only said it was a new tv, is the gpu new too? What were you using before? Try that again.

It sounds to me like your drivers are probably not working properly. Uninstall any GPU that isn't the onboard. All your gpu stuff that isn't the onboard. Then reboot/reinstall. Maybe rip the card out. Uninstall. Reboot. Install card, install driver. reboot. Make it as thorough as can be. I'm assuming your understanding of un/installing the physical card requires power off in these processes.

Whatever cable allows you to enable HDR on your on board should work on the gpu.

Oh and download the driver direct from nvidia. Delete what you were using, download it again, to be sure.

Yes, yes, and yes. Thanks for the reply. Here's what I've learned in the last 12 hours.

G-sync options (and visibility in control panel) AND pc resolutions above 1360x768 only show up after I enable Deep Color 4K on the LG. I never saw it before because the TV would always lose sync. Now I am connected remotely to the computer with VNC and I can see G-sync and PC resolutions appear.

However, it still doesn't solve my problem because the TV still says "No Signal". Either at full 4K or at 2560x1440. As soon as I enable Deep color 4k the TV loses sync with graphics card

Here’s what I found on that card with a google search.
“As a mainstream card, the RTX 3060 primarily targets 1080p and 1440p gaming”
Didn’t look up hdr or anything like that. Somebody on Reddit said they used” lg companion” whatever that is and it made gsync work with their 3090 but they had vrr working. Call lg maybe they have a solution for you or you might just have a bad tv.

Did the OP ever get this resolved?
Partially, but not really. Instead of going directly from PC to TV I put my denon 3500H in the mix. This is not ideal because max on that unit is 60hz. However, it does allow me to achieve stable 3840 x 2160 at 60hz with HDR enabled. I can turn on Game Optimizer with HDMI Deep color and G-Sync works. I still don't have VRR options, and of course being limited to 60hz is not a solution. I've played about 15 minutes of Elden Ring on high setting and it is surprisingly responsive at that refresh rate

Opened a support ticket with LG and of course Tier 1 had no clue and passed it up the chain. They said I might hear from someone in 2-3 weeks.

Possible issue...

The 3000 series has driver issues with some tv's (issues with newer Sony 4K tv's as well).

The first thing to try is Nvidia Driver 512.95 as that is the one driver that is known to work, any driver after that can cause various display issues (sync, corruption, blanking).

I just tried a DP 1.4 to HDMI 2.1 (48G) adapter and it works from a 3080ti to a Sony 75X90J other than no G-Sync/VRR support ([email protected] with HDR works).

This is the one I am using... Amazon.com: Cable Matters 8K DisplayPort 1.4 to HDMI Adapter with 4K 120Hz or 8K, Unidirectional Display Port 1.4 to HDMI 8K Cable Adapter in Black, Support for RTX 3080/3090, RX 6800/6900 and More : Electronics

While I have not experienced any driver issues with my 4090 on the same Sony display, it is being reported that the 4000 series may be suffering from similar driver issues.

Best of luck,
Jason

THANKS! for the tip on the driver. Installed it this morning. Took the AVR back out of loop so going direct to TV again

Now I can enable game optimizer with deep color 4K enabled on TV. G-sync logo present and VRR working. And from within Elden Ring HDR comes on. (Still [email protected]) It's absolutely gorgeous on this TV.

Unfortunately I'm still unable to select any of the PC resolutions from within NCP: Choosing 3840 x 2160 @ 120Hz or 100Hz still causes display to lose sync.

Also, now for some reason, I can't enable HDR in windows desktop (3840 x 2160 @ 60Hz or even 30Hz. - WEIRD how it comes on automatically and works in Elden ring.

I don't honestly expect to be able play a game like ER on a 77" TV at 4Kx120Hz with HDR and high quality settings... but it sure would be nice to know I could select those setting without stability problems.

So frustrating. I need to take a break. Thanks for everyone's help.

I did just receive some new DP 1.4 to HDMI 2.1 (48G) cables that I ordered the other day. I'll try those and see what happens.

Curious - do you have the option to run the desktop at 120Hz?
After installing the 512.95 driver I could enable Deep color 4K on the TV which is what allowed me to finally see the 4K PC resolutions at 120Hz and 100Hz. However, when I select them the TV still loses signal. So yes, the option is there, but the outcome is not good.

Disable G-Sync in the Nvidia driver settings (before trying 120Hz) and see if you still lose signal (on 512.95).

G-Sync disabled. 3840 x 2160 @ 120 or 100 = no signal

2560x1440 @ 120Hz is achievable with G-sync on or off. At this res I have game optimizer on with VRR and everything. That is, until I launch Elden ring. ER launches at 3840x2160 60Hz- through VNC I changed res to 2560x1440 and re-launch... TV loses sync.

Also, I can't turn on HDR with any of the above mentioned combinations

4k @ 60Hz and 1440 @ 120Hz fall under HDMI 2.0. Once you move up to 4k @ 120Hz it‘s HDMI 2.1, which seems might be the issue. HDR and G-sync are not resolution specific, so that muddies the trouble-shooting - to me that’s pointing at an issue with either bandwidth or the TV.

Mentioned before, do you have access to another HDMI 2.1 (Xbox Series X, PS5, etc.) device for testing to rule out an issue with the GPU?

HDR has only been an issue since I moved back to the 512 driver. if going directly from PC to TV. With the receiver in the middle, HDR still works fine. There is definitely some issue between TV and graphics card that the AVR helps remediate. Just wish I understood what and how.
Unfortunately I don't have any other 2.1 devices.

^^^THIS^^^ adapter is what ended up solving 99% of my issues. THANK YOU!

-Can enable Deep color/4K on TV
-Can see and achieve PC resolutions [email protected]
-G-Sync options appear and monitor shows G-sync compatible
-No problems with HDR
-Game optimizer works
-AND I was able to install latest nvidia driver!

The only thing I don't have is VRR. Minor issue.

I did discover one interesting thing: According to Nvidia website the 2022 C2 is not officially G-Sync compatible yet

Anyway. Thanks everyone for the help, tips, and suggestions.
