New Line is the latest major distributor to support Blu-ray Disc exclusively

Statement by Scott Hettrick:

Quote:
New Line is the latest major distributor to support Blu-ray Disc exclusively for this year due to the company's concerns about a lack of regional coding on HD DVD for its Blu-ray debut of "Hairspray."

And we have official spec details below for the first hi-def horror titles exclusively on Blu-ray from Anchor Bay Entertainment on Oct. 2 and Oct. 16 (see first blog about this on July 16), including "Halloween," "Dawn of the Dead," Day of the Dead," and "Evil Dead 2."

Is this guy for real! I mean seriously. This is just way over the top. I didn't know that New Line will be exclusive to Blu-Ray.

Talk about FUD and misleading information.

And this is why I'm building this site. To hit HARD on people like Scott Hettrick, Blu-Ray.com etc etc. This is compeltely out of hand.

Their statement is 100% true.

Read it again, slowly this time. *For this year*. Back to Green Eggs and Ham for you.

Give yourself an uppercut first.

No YOU read it slowly. The way he presents it is that it is FOR SURE exclusive this year and who knows what's gonna happen next year.

NOWHERE does he state that Hairspray IS ACTUALLY coming to HD DVD.

He took the information about the delay, spun it in a way where it seems like New Line is Blu-Ray exclusive and might remain that way.

This is NOT OK and is FUD of the WORST KIND.

It is a MISQUOTE of the WORST KIND to make someone's statement look like FUD.

And it is you who did it.

Thanks for making AVS a bit more useless.

What exactly did I misquote? These are his words.

If you can't see how he carefully words it here so it seems that New Line is exclusive to Blu-Ray then I'm really out of words.

Do you purposely close your eyes on FUD when it benefits Blu-Ray and then you are trying to be all fair and logical about other people's posts.

His statement is very misleading and he uses facts to distort the truth. He does not mention that HD DVD version IS coming, that New Line is NOT exclusive as they release other titles on HD DVD.

What exactly is not clear here for you? He is spinning and his statment is COMPLETE FUD.

For

this

year

Omitting such a qualifier is a serious misquote.

It is FOR SURE exclusive *this year*, New Line themselves said so.

What do you think he's going to say? If I pick up a Porsche product brochure, I'm not expecting to read anything on the release of the latest BMW am I?

You seem to have this weird idea that everything you read on the Internet must present an objective point of view. The sooner you realise your foolish mistake and devote your life to something other than creating looney websites, the better you will feel.

There are a lot of nitwits on this board, but you are their King.

Sorry but I think we already have an excellent HDM disinformation site: http://www.campaignhd.com/
New Line never said that their not going to release a catalog title before 2008...or am i wrong?

First of all I did not omit anything..

Second, let me ask you this.. because YOU KNOW what the information is about it makes sense TO YOU and me.

But put yourself in a position where you DON'T know about the real information and what was said by New Line.

What exactly For This Year means? First of all what does exclusive to Blu-Ray means? He followed with for this year without any explanation. Did he say, they will release other movies on HD DVD? Did he say that Hairspay is coming to HD DVD to within next few months?

If you read this as a regular person who is quoted this information you will conclude that the emphasis here is on EXCLUSIVE not this year. "This year" in his statement is being positioned in a way where it creates UNCERTAINTY of the future when this is CLEARLY certain that NEW LINE is NOT Blu-Ray exclusive and that other movies are coming too.

Let me remind you that several movies don't have dates and have nothing to do with regional coding as PROBLEMS as he puts it. There are absolutely no problems with HD DVD being region free. It just means slight delay of that one title. I mean give me a break.

Btw, movies that are coming from New line and might be released this year.

- Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery

- Blade

- Dark City

- Final Destination

- Friday

- The Mask

- Rush Hour

- Se7en

etc etc etc

Not to mention Lord Of The Rings that several members have aready confirmed is done for hi-def and is just a matter of timing when they will release.

So let me ask you, if any of these movies comes out this year, will he edit his post? I don't think so as I've seen his edits. It will be left in archives as it has served the purpose of being FUD.

Let me say it again..NEW LINE IS NOT BLU-RAY EXCLUSIVE, this year or next. If anything we could see that Warner is more HD DVD then Blu-Ray as almost 1/3 of their titles are HD DVD exclusive. Meaning NO DATE for release on Blu-Ray at all!

I have been wondering about this myself for awhile since alot of New Line titles are geared for DTS-ES soundtracks and HD-DVD seems to have not been very aggressive in having DTS sound on the majority of their releases.
Have no fear. All New Line titles are distributed by Warner in Germany.

Oh didn't you? I look at the thread title and I fail to see the "for this year" anywhere...

His statement is 100% correct. You interpreted it as if he had never qualified it with "for this year", conveniently ignored that when you realised your mistake, and went on to complain that he doesn't mention HD-DVD.

I don't see you kicking up a big stink about www.campaignhd.com , which contains many similar "facts by omission" and outrageous porkies favouring HD-DVD. Why not? What if a "regular person" is reading that site and believes those "facts"?

Face it, you're a hypocrite. You only care about the consumers right to know as long as they buy HD-DVD.

Et tu Grubert?

Suggesting that New Line is exclusive this year is FUD.

It's spinning the later HD DVD release for Hairspray into 'New line exclusive this year'

He 'omitted' to mention that the HD DVD release of Hairspray got a later release date because issues with int'l distributers and theatrical windows and that New Line titles do not have this issue.

Since he doesn't have a New Line release schedule at hand he poses his spin as a factual statement.

First of all, you obviously realize what I'm saying, yet you defend something that is clearly wrong. Everyone who is even slightly logical will see what his intention is.

I will say it again, he is simply LYING. New Line is not exclusive despite the fact that Hairspray might not be released THIS YEAR. Second, he took a piece of information from what New Line guy said and spun it to look like New Line is Blu-Ray exclusive. Disguisting. I can't find word to express the type of person this Scott Hettrick guy is. He know EXACTLY what he is doing and it is simply disguisting that there are people like him that purposley misrepresent information like this.

Did he mention that New Line guy, 2 sentences after the delay explanation says that New Line will follow it's parent company Warner and support both formats. There wasn't a slightest tone of "Blu-Ray exclusivness" in his voice. He just explained that the delay for Hairspray will be due to movie still playing in theaters in Europe. That's it.

But yeah, sure, you are fine with that HUGE part being completely left out as it sounds very nice to hear New Line and Blu-Ray exclusive in one sentence even thought it's blantant lie and FUD.

Let me get this straight, I'm a hypocrit for pointing out disguisting misleading and FUD-astic information that is being written by a paid BDA tool name Scott Hettrick. This site (which I'm on purpose not giving a link for) is being PAID and maintained by Sony/Fox/Disney.

CampaignHD.com is being ran by rdjam and is SOLELY a fan site.

Yeah, it's absolutely the same. Rdjam quotes press releases and this guy invents stories and twists facts so they sound completely misleading.

I completely see how this is totally the same.

(just to make sure I meant that last sentence as sarcasm)
